Best Amazon Prime Day PC gaming deals

Bye bye Big Deal Days, we hardly knew you. And honestly I'm still trying to figure out exactly why Jeff Amazon thought sticking another sales event in before Black Friday was a good idea. But maybe that's why I'm not a multi-billionaire and he's got space rockets in his backyard.

But, even as October's Prime Days fade into the distance, there are still a host of deals still live if you're in the market for an upgrade for your own setup, or looking for a gift for a friend or family member. And just know that we've got you covered with the best PC deals we've found from Amazon and further afield below.

With prices likely to rise after this sales event it's going to be even harder to shake the feeling that, with Black Friday on the very near horizon, you might be better off waiting until November to make a key purchase. But it's worth noting that every retailer is fighting for attention, so you might still see some folks go live early this year with new, tasty deals.

We're going to keep curating the best discounts on our favorite products all the up to Black Friday and beyond, and those pages are where we're going to focus our efforts now. So, keep an eye on the best Black Friday PC gaming deals pages for our most up to date, curated lists.

Our standard advice remains, however. It's only ever a deal if you were looking at buying that gaming laptop, monitor, PC, or graphics card in the first place. So have an idea of the sort of thing you're looking to buy first, and that way you won't get your head turned as easily by seemingly hefty discounts on things you don't need, or even really want.

We'll be carefully avoiding the terrible deals with fake sale prices designed to tempt people to spend on obsolete hardware; we are making it our focus to only show you the kit you should really consider buying for your own PC gaming setup.

This is a surprise: a discount on the best RTX 4080 laptop I've tested. It's a fantastic notebook, offering performance that can often match and sometimes beat an RTX 4090-based system (<a href="https://www.pcgamer.com/lenovo-legion-pro-7i-gaming-laptop-review/" data-link-merchant="pcgamer.com"" data-link-merchant="bhphotovideo.com"" target="_blank">see our review). There's a high-performance CPU to back it up, a decent, bright 1600p screen, and a fair amount of storage. All with a discount.

It's a smart spec that essentially uses an otherwise older specification with the simple addition of just the new Nvidia RTX 40-series graphics chip. The 512GB SSD is a bit miserly, but that is upgradeable. The 8GB of DDR4 memory is also upgradeable, and you'll want to bump it to 16GB, so this is a bit of a project buy.

This is a good deal for a mid-tier gaming PC, especially when many rigs around this price are delivering you an RTX 3060 or RTX 3060 Ti. The Core i5 is still a solid CPU today, and RTX 4060 is probably the mainstream GPU of Nvidia's current generation of cards you'd expect in a budget build, comfortably beating both those RTX 30-series mainstays, and with the added panacea of DLSS 3.5 and Frame Generation. You also get a full 16GB RAM and a full 1TB NVMe SSD..

This is the RTX 4060 laptop to buy right now. For a little under $1,000, you can score a brand new RTX 4060 in a laptop that's not massively underpowered in some other way. Lenovo has been doing great things with laptops lately. Our pick as the <a href="https://www.pcgamer.com/best-gaming-laptop" data-link-merchant="pcgamer.com"" data-link-merchant="bestbuy.com"" target="_blank">best gaming laptop is a Lenovo, in fact. This isn't that laptop, but it's a slim version with a cut-down spec that will appeal to anyone actually looking to carry this around day-to-day. The only downside here is the slim SSD storage, but otherwise the spec looks great. It was cheaper over the recent Prime Day, so I'd expect it to drop below $1,000 again closer to Black Friday.

We were surprised to see a new 16-inch RTX 4070-powered laptop for only $1,400. This Crosshair has a current-gen Intel CPU, so it's great for working and gaming. Also, the display has a 16:10 aspect ratio, so you get more field of view which is super useful in first-person shooters.

If you're after a large-screen laptop for school with a little Triple-A gaming on the side, the TUF A17 will certainly deliver. It is only a 1080p panel, which is a bit of a shame, but its RTX 4070 will run pretty much everything at that resolution. It also has an 8-core, 16-thread Ryzen CPU that sports the 780M integrated graphics. That's the same as in all the latest handhelds so it can give decent gaming performance on the go and should offer more gaming battery life than running on the RTX 4070 when away from a plug socket.

Another banger for Skytech, with this smashing low-end combo that's technically not on sale. The company keeps costs down with an affordable yet great-for-gaming, Ryzen 5 5600X processor. Ignore the inflated pre-discount selling price, the fact that this is an RTX 4070 retailing for below the standard Nvidia MSRP for the card is the thing to really pay attention too. This is nearly RTX 3080 performance but with all those nice RTX 40 features. And, heck, it's branded up with the best version of Spiderman. Psyche!

This is a straightforward card from Zotac, with a minor clock boost over the reference spec, but comes with a really neat looking cooler. The same design works well on the beefier chips, so I'm not concerned about how effective it'll be with an RTX 4070 Ti. It's only a minor saving over the base $799 reference price, but is still a great alternative if you couldn't pick up a Founders Edition card.

Honestly, we'll take whatever wins we can get when it comes to high-end GPUs, even if that does still make it far more than the card should be sold at. This is a great deal on a slightly lower-spec ultrawide. You can expect a full ultrawide resolution, with plenty of vertical pixel space, thanks to that 1440p resolution and 1ms response times for gaming. The only thing is this monitor will max out at 100Hz. That's still plenty quick enough for gaming, and as a way to save some money and still get that proper ultrawide experience, we do like this MSI a lot.

This is a high-end PCIe 4.0 drive for a little over the price of much more mainstream drives. The read/write speeds here are rather phenomenal: the Nextorage can reach the upper echelons of PCIe 4.0 bandwidth at 7,300MB/s read and 6,900MB/s write. If you can spare the cash, I'd make the leap to the Nextorage.

They're designed to be rugged and fast, a potent combo. Oh, and they are available in three colors.

This CPU isn't just the best gaming processor you can get for your money, it's simply the best there is. It's just as fast as anything Intel has to offer and consumes far less power to boot. Of course, this isn't the best CPU at everything, as it's designed to be brilliant at gaming (<a href="https://www.pcgamer.com/amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d-review-benchmarks-performance/" data-link-merchant="pcgamer.com"" data-link-merchant="newegg.com"" target="_blank">check out our review here). For content creation and productivity tasks, you'll want a CPU with more cores and threads. Normally, the biggest downside to choosing the Ryzen 7 7800X3D was its price, but this deal counters that problem immediately.

Especially since this deal is even cheaper than AMD's own sale! As with all Zen 4 CPUs, you'll need a motherboard with an AM5 socket and it only supports DDR5 RAM, but that's fine if you're looking to do a full system upgrade. It can use a lot of power and get pretty hot under load, but it can be switched to an ECO mode in software, to cut both of these right back down. There are better processors for just gaming but this one is peerless for rendering and video editing.

There are specific things you want from a wireless headset: comfort, great audio, and a long battery life. The HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless is the best wireless gaming headset around beause it manages to combine all of those key elements. And when we're talking about battery life, nothing else comes close to the 300 hours of listening time they can offer.

This is still the gaming headset I go back to regularly at home. It's comfortable, light, and has a great audio feel, too. And I love that physical volume knob on the left-hand ear cup. The mic isn't great and the 24 hour battery life looks limited against the Cloud Alpha Wireless, both things that were updated in the Gen2 model, but I've never been bothered by the battery life in real life. And at this price I think I'd take them over the HyperX headset.

Normally the pricier cousin of our favorite budget gaming headset, the Corsair HS65 are discounted to the point they're actually cheaper than the other set. I'd call that a win. The recent Corsair headsets have really impressive mics, now permanently attached flip-up options, and the sound is surprisingly good for a pretty standard headset, too.

The JBL Quantums are the best gaming earbuds around right now. They're simple, straightforward, and comfortable. They also offer dual-modes, allowing you to connect via Bluetooth but also a 2.4GHz USB Type-C dongle for latency-free gaming. That makes them a perfect fit for your phone and handheld gaming PC.
