Rockstar are going back to basics with this brief batch of GTA5 screenshots, highlighting the auto part of Grand Theft Auto. (Also the Grand Theft part, in the case of the shot above.) Here we get a round-up of some of the vehicles that'll be driving, flying and swimming through this remade Los Santos.

While GTA 5 is released later this year for consoles, a PC version has yet to be announced. If you're wondering why we're still posting about the game despite Rockstar's silence on the matter, let me explain with a small history lesson.

GTA 5 screenshots: 12 new pics show the gang's criminal escapades

Rockstar have dropped a fresh round of GTA 5 screenshots at our feet. This time, we see the game's three protagonists engaging in a variety of criminal activities, which is perhaps to be expected from a series named Grand Theft Auto. But just how illegal are their shenanigans? Read on, as I apply the unwaveringly accurate Naughty Scale to find out.

Here's a couple of scraps of GTAV info, which, I suspect, is about as much as we can hope from the generally tight-lipped Rockstar in the run up to the game's "Q2" release.

Firstly, Rockstar dropped a big art-dump over the weekend, rendering their trademark illustrations in a variety of wallpaper-friendly resolutions. The pics feature a selection of the locations and vehicles you'll find throughout Los Santos, as well as the three confirmed protagonists.

It's time! The second trailer for Grand Theft Auto V has finally arrived. No, there's still no mention of a PC version, but since every previous GTA game has eventually found its way to PC, we're fairly confident this one will too. The new trailer spotlights Michael, Trevor and Franklin, the game's three protagonists, but also includes some new info.

GTA 5 trailer delayed, have these posters instead

Hurricane Sandy has derailed Rockstar's plans to release a new trailer of the game that's coming to consoles 'Spring 2013' and to PC '*shrugs shoulders*', but as a consolation prize they did unleash two - two! - GTA V posters that are absolutely loaded with Clues. As revealed on Game Informer, the first shows that there will be at least two women in the game (one of them wearing a Love Fist T-shirt), while the second shows an angry guy with an angry dog - an angry dog called Chop. You may have seen the second image somewhere before, but the first is all new.

GTA V revs up viral marketing engines

There's still no official release date for Rockstar's upcoming GTA V, but its sordid universe of gangs, violence and classic crime movies has already started leaking into our own. First on the viral marketing scene; praise Kifflom, for The Epsilon Program is back and... very similar to before from the looks of things, though careful use of robots.txt means the Internet Archive isn't allowed to confirm that. It has however now found Twitter as well as enlightenment, so that's probably a good thing to watch for any fresh GTA V related sites and shout-outs as Rockstar gets things rolling for 2012.

In five days, we'll get our first look at GTA V in the announcement trailer. But for now, all we know is this: it has a V in it. So what are we hoping for this time around? What did GTA IV get right, where did it fail, and where does the series need to go next? We've gathered our thoughts into deliciously digestible list form. Add yours in the comments.
