I've already spotted the best RTX 5080 gaming PC deal I've seen in a long time, and Prime Day hasn't even technically started yet

HP Omen 35L | RTX 5080 | 9800X3D: was $4,999.99 now $2,799.99 at HP US

I didn't expect to see an RTX 5080 alongside a Ryzen 7 9800X3D for this kind of price again, given the state of the current market. But here we are, and I'm certainly not complaining. There's no slack in the other specs, either, given you're getting 2 TB of storage and a full 32 GB of fast DDR5 memory.

Key specs: Ryzen 7 9800X3D | RTX 5080 | 32 GB DDR5-6000 | 2 TB SSD

I wasn't expecting much out of this year's October Prime Day, to be honest, given the state of the current market thanks to the global memory shortage. So I'm very surprised that, before the event has technically started (at least for Amazon), HP has this corker of a deal on a truly top-end rig.

I add the word "truly" because there really is no part of this PC that's skimping in specs. In addition to the wombo-combo CPU and GPU, you're getting 32 GB of fast, current-gen RAM and 2 TB of storage. For $2,800 at HP? Yeah, that's good going amid these uncertain times.

The main draw really is that GPU-CPU combo, though, because with the RTX 5080 and Ryzen 7 9800X3D you're getting the absolute best CPU for gaming alongside the second-most-powerful Nvidia GPU—the faster RTX 5090 being reserved for only those with astronomical budgets who are willing to spend 2x the amount or more.

The Omen 35L specifically is one we have a lot of time for—our Dave just called it a "nice wee thing", and I'd have to agree—having scored both a previous-gen and current-gen one highly. Though sadly this isn't the white version, which does look a little more suave.

We haven't tried an RTX 5080 and 9800X3D combo specifically, but I don't expect those more powerful specs would cause any complaints. You're getting a 1,000 W PSU, too, which should be plenty of juice for both. Though you're only getting a 240 mm AIO—a decent 360 mm one might be a good shout for an upgrade if you find the processor throttling at all.

Altogether, though, what more could you want for this price? Right now I'm seeing a bunch of similar rigs well north of $3,000, and very few RTX 5080 rigs for much cheaper—certainly not ones with specs like these. A great deal to kick off this Prime Day period, I'd say.
