Update, Thursday April 18: The Steam Deck OLED 512GB model is under AU$1,000 yet again, and this time it's even cheaper than last week. Don't get too excited, though: it's AU$997, instead of last week's AU$999, which means you can get an additional two dustpans and brooms. Head to the My-Phonez eBay store and use the coupon code APRSAV at checkout to get the AU$997 price.

Original story:

If you've got a spare AU$1,000 lying around and want a Steam Deck, you may be pleased to hear that the 512GB Steam Deck OLED is currently available for AU$999 on Mobileciti's eBay store. That's the cheapest we've seen the new OLED line sell for in Australia, and with that AU$1 change you could perhaps buy this dustpan and broom

eBay being eBay, you'll need to use the code SAVHGT at checkout to get the AU$999 price, otherwise you'll be hit with the not-as-appealing price of AU$1,099. For reference, with no discount at all, this particular eBay seller normally sells this model  for AU$1,399, so all up you're looking at a AU$399 discount, which could get you 399 dustpans and brooms.

While Valve has yet to start selling the Steam Deck directly to Australians, it's not  much of a hassle to buy one in the  antipodes nowadays. Valve has cautioned against buying from grey market sellers in the past, but Mobileciti is a reputable Sydney retailer, and eBay is eBay, so there's a promising combination of reputation and protections here.

This is the cheapest we've seen the new OLED models go for in Australia, so if you're in the market for a Steam Deck, now's a good time to buy in. This deal comes courtesy of Mobileciti's eBay store, and includes free shipping, though make sure you use the coupon code SAVHGT at checkout.

Should you buy a Steam Deck? I don't know. I don't have one, because they're expensive. But our Steam Deck OLED review was very favourable, with praise especially for its gorgeous display, impressive build, and improved battery life over the vanilla Steam Deck. "The Steam Deck OLED refines an already fantastic handheld gaming PC," Tyler wrote. "While it may not push the performance higher, the OLED screen, improved battery, and larger storage make it the most valuable device available."

Once you've got a Steam Deck, you'll probably want to load up on the best Steam Deck games. I'm often hearing my US colleagues complain that their expensive handhelds have basically turned into Balatro devices, so try to mix it up a bit, I guess.
