This RTX 5070 gaming laptop is already so well-priced, I'd be tempted to jump on this deal before Prime Day has officially started

In these RAMpocalypse-infested times, you have to sacrifice something to get a good gaming laptop at an affordable price, and in this case, it's the GPU's power limit—which has been lowered to 85 W. Still, everything else is nice for the money, and it should deliver good gaming performance with some DLSS assistance. This is the cheapest RTX 5070 machine I can find right now I'd buy with my own cash, and a pretty sweet deal when most of the competition is ranging around the $1,500 mark.

Key specs: RTX 5070 (85 W) | Core 7 240H | 16-inch | 1600p | 165 Hz | 16 GB DDR5 | 1 TB SSD

Amazon Prime Day 2026 is nearly upon us, and I'm collecting early Prime Day gaming laptop deals in anticipation. There are already some great machines to be found for reasonable money, but this RTX 5070-equipped Acer Nitro V 16S for $1,200 at B&H Photo will take some beating.

Now, I can't guarantee this lappy won't drop in price during the upcoming sales event, which officially begins next week on June 23. However, sub-$1,500 RTX 5070 machines can be very difficult to find right now, so this particular model makes a great case for itself before Prime Day officially starts.

It's also one of Acer's S-line models, which means it's skinnier than your average reasonably-priced gaming laptop. There is a caveat to be aware of, though, before you go dropping your hard-earned cash.

The GPU here has been power-limited to 85 W. Now, being an RTX 5070 mobile graphics chip, it should still be fairly punchy at this wattage. However, this Acer has a 1600p 165 Hz display—which means you'll likely be leaning on DLSS and Frame Generation in demanding games to keep your frame rates high.

Which wouldn't bother me much, personally, given how much I'd be saving. This Acer machine is cheaper than many RTX 5060 gaming laptops you'll find at the moment, and it's got much more graphical grunt.

Plus, with a 10-core (six Performance, eight Efficient) Intel chip, 16 GB of DDR5, and a properly-sized 1 TB SSD crammed inside, there aren't many other compromises to be made. Sure, I'd love 32 GB of RAM, but given the current memory crisis, it's probably a bit too much to ask.

With Prime Day just around the corner, I'm expecting lots of RTX 5070 gaming lappys to drop in price. That being said, I'll be surprised if lots of them drop much below £1,200, which makes this machine a great deal now, and likely a very competitive one if it sticks around over the next couple of weeks.

Me? I'd be sorely tempted to pick one up now for this sort of cash, and save myself some hassle. How about you?
