Thought 32 GB gaming laptop deals were dead? So did I, to be honest. But this one's a peach for the cash, given that RAM prices are utterly ludicrous right now. It's also got a 240 Hz IPS display, a 115 W RTX 5070 mobile, and a chonky 24-core Intel CPU. Be still, my beating heart.

32 GB gaming laptops used to be legion on our gaming laptop deals page, but with Amazon Prime Day just around the corner, I've spotted the return of a favorite. Bucking the trend, here comes the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 AI for $1,500—complete with a generous 32 GB of DDR5.

Not only that, but it's also got a 115 W variant of the RTX 5070 mobile, which has been paired with a 24-core Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX. That's a very capable GPU and an extremely powerful mobile CPU, all wrapped up in a good-looking chassis.

That makes this Acer machine, as modern as it looks, feel like a blast from the past in terms of pricing. Most RTX 5070 gaming laptops with just 16 GB of RAM are currently sitting well above the $1,500 mark, and many of them have far lesser components than this one.

And just to put a cherry on top of the gaming laptop cake, it's also got a 1600p 240 Hz IPS display. All you could really want for extra here is an OLED panel, but given the rest of the specs on offer, I can't really fault it.

The question, however, is whether you should buy now or wait to see what happens with the upcoming Amazon Prime Day sales. I'm no clairvoyant, but I'd be surprised if we saw lots of 32 GB machines crop up with massive discounts this event, as stock has been depleted since the start of the year thanks to the ongoing RAM crisis.

I'm not saying we won't find a few, of course. Or that I can guarantee this lappy won't drop in price a bit further as the event goes on. All I can say is that the deal in front of me right now is darn good compared to the rest of the market, and having spent some time tapping around on Acer's Predator Helios lineup, I'd absolutely buy one with my own cash.

So, it's up to you whether you want to take a punt. Personally? I reckon you should give it some serious consideration. A laptop in the hand is sometimes worth two in the bush. Or something like that, anyway.
