Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro: was $179.99 now $132.02 at Amazon

A bold design flourish, the light up cat ears here may be a bit of a commitment to some. Beyond the fashion statement, this wireless gaming headset comes with Triforce 40 mm drivers, THX Spatial audio, and up to 70 hours of battery life.

Key specs: 40 mm drivers | Up to 70-hour battery life with the RGB lights turned off, (30 hours with RGB on) | Retractable microphone

On any given day, there's a good chance you'll find me wearing the Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro gaming headset. Well, what's more likely is you'll try to gently get my attention only to find that I jump out of my skin with a yelp. These cans don't have anything in the way of active noise cancellation, but the seal is strong enough to make me positively jumpy in PCG towers.

I reviewed (and continue to rock) the Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro in pink, but the black colourway is enjoying a 27% discount this Amazon Prime Day.

You get the same 40 mm drivers, THX Spatial audio, and some very stylish RGB-lit cat ears, but in a colourway that's arguably a touch easier to coordinate with the vast majority of hardware. Not bad for a smidge over $132 from Amazon.

If you're not about that kitty-eared life, then I'm afraid you're out of luck as the prominent design flourish here is not detachable from the headband. Otherwise, amply cushioned memory foam ear cups ensure this is a fairly comfortable set of cans throughout extended wear. As previously mentioned, folks might want to think twice about how they get your attention while you're wearing this attention-grabbing headset.

Instead of a detachable microphone arm, this gaming headset features a retractable mic. It elegantly tucks away up inside the left ear cup when you're done yapping for the day, and the audio quality itself too isn't likely to leave anyone yowling in frustration.

The only thing I'd say there is perhaps room for improvement is the battery. As a heavy user, I find I'm draining the advertised 70-hour battery life at least once a week. At the very least, there's a decently long, colour coordinated USB-C charging cable included in the box. Having spent some time with the hot swappable batteries of the Glorious GHS InfinitePlay though, I do wish I was tethered to my PC just a little less often.

I haven't yet worn this gaming headset out and about, but its connectivity options aren't what's holding me back. Offering a wired USB-C connection, plus 2.4 GHz wireless, and Bluetooth 5.3, all that's left is for me to work up the courage.

Now, if only these kitty-eared cans came in the actual best colour: purple.
