How to get sulfur in Subnautica 2

Despite how easy it actually is to get sulfur in Subnautica 2, I was completely stumped when I suddenly needed to get just one piece to craft the Repair Tool. And it's an important item to get, since you can use it to break open a nearby wreck and unlock the Rebreather item.

Below, I'll explain where you can quickly find your first sulfur, and you'll get more than enough for the time being. However, you will need the Sonic Resonator to collect it in bulk, which you should have by now if you're concerned about sulfur.

Sulfur is a yellowish rock (technically a crystal) that could be easily mistaken for gold. The best place to find sulfur early on is on the rock pillar in the open seabed near the Coral Crabs about 120° southeast of the Lifepod, roughly 25m deep and 200m away, past the Welcome Centre. You might've found a Wakemaker fragment on the science platform at its base before, and there's also a great source of salt nearby.

There are four large sulfur deposits requiring the Sonic Resonator to mine, and a few small ones you can grab by hand here, netting you a good basketful of the yellow crystal. There are also a few dotted about on the sand in this area. Since this is close to the volcanic vents area, don't swim any further northeast until you've got the Heat Tolerance Adaptation—just so you don't burn to a crisp.

Your first use for sulfur is in crafting the Repair Tool, for which you'll need:

1x sulfur
2x titanium ingots
1x wiring kit
1x basic battery

So, once you know where to grab sulfur, it's actually pretty easy to craft this handy gadget. And once you've got the Repair Tool, I recommend heading to the large shipwreck roughly 360 meters northeast of the Lifepod, where you can cut open the doors leading to the Rebreather equipment.

You'll also need sulfur (and gold) to craft Strong Acid, as well as advanced wiring kits, which are used in later tools and base facilities.
