The study of philosophy is powerful because you can map its insights onto any aspect of life today, just as you could a hundred or a thousand years ago. French philosopher Descartes, for example, pioneered the theory of mind-body dualism, writing "I have a clear and distinct idea of myself, in so far as I am simply a thinking, non-extended thing... and on the other hand I have a distinct idea of body... accordingly, it is certain that I am really distinct from my body, and can exist without it." Descartes was born about 300 years too early to experience jetlag, but he was definitely onto something.

After flying home from Japan, where I spent a few days shooting for the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, I found my separated body and mind capable of little in the way of cogent thought. All I could think of yesterday was a single idea: Drillposting.

It's thanks to the preeminent philosopher of the 21st century that we're all now familiar with wisdom like "theres actually zero difference between good & bad things," but I couldn't stop wondering which of Dril's teachings might map to the perspectives of videogame characters who have drills.
