I'd snap up this $340 QD-OLED gaming monitor in a heartbeat, limited connectivity be damned

AOC Q27GAZD: was $369.99 now $339.99 at Amazon

OLED gaming monitors are slowly but surely becoming more affordable, and this AOC is a good example. With a 240 Hz QD-OLED panel beaming games, movies, and dare I say even spreadsheets at your eyeballs, I reckon you'd be pleased to call this your own—although you'll need to use the DisplayPort 1.4 connection to make the most of it.

Key specs: 27-inch | 1440p | 240 Hz | OLED | 0.03 ms

While the price of everything PC gaming hardware seems to be going up these days, I have good news: OLED gaming monitors are starting to become more affordable. I was stopped in my tracks this morning by this AOC QD-OLED 240 Hz example for $340 at Amazon, which is definitely one of the cheapest I've ever seen.

The 240 Hz refresh rate is certainly a top-billing feature, but you'll need to use its single DisplayPort 1.4 connection to reach that lofty figure at 1440p. That's because the only other option is an HDMI 2.0 port, and the spec tops out at 144 Hz at this resolution.

Still, that's really only a problem for console/gaming laptop users, or those of you without DisplayPort cables. Pick up a cheap one of those with your purchase (I personally use these UGreen HDMI 2.1-rated versions), and you should be sorted, as modern graphics cards usually have several DP ports to choose from.

And then you're in the land of QD-OLED loveliness for a very reasonable price. While it's not the brightest of monitors (it's got a peak full-screen brightness rating of 200 nits), it's the vivid color reproduction and near-infinite contrast ratio you're really after, and this particular model should deliver that in spades.

Plus, with a 0.03 ms response time and Nvidia G-Sync support, it'd be the perfect match for a team green competitive gaming setup. QD-OLED panel tech is some of the best around, and this little beauty has a lot going for it. It might be lacking in port options, but for this kind of price, I'd still say it's a bit of a no-brainer.
