James is stuck in an endless loop, playing the Dark Souls games on repeat until Elden Ring and Silksong set him free. He's a truffle pig for indie horror and weird FPS games too, seeking out games that actively hurt to play. Otherwise he's wandering Austin, identifying mushrooms and doodling grackles.

Every Monday, Build of the week highlights a unique rig from the web's most dedicated PC building communities.

Scratch build case mod legend tells of one boss hog, the hog to boss them all, the hossiest bog there is, and that gog hob’s name?

Skull Rider.

The myth made manifest comes from modder Enrico Luperini, a relic forged in hellfire (actually a CNC machine and some TIG welding) and piloted by a skeleton animated by the residual spirit energy of Wild Hogs, the 2007 blockbuster sensation starring Tim Allen.

Once the frame was made, Luperini powered the boss hog with a few direct Motorhead injections and a corpse burst from the ground and said, ‘Get me on that hog, boss.’ Now Skull Rider roams this realm’s highways, a sentinel for PC gamers in need. The problem is, not many PC gamers in need are highway adjacent, so Skull Rider isn’t getting much work. Don't worry, Skull Rider. Overwatch is out soon and I hear Bill Nye is hiring.

Busy or not, Skull Rider is one cool cat. This top dog is pieced together with welded chain links, outfitted with actual tires, detailed from toe to tip with artistic flourishes, and to boot, the SSD doubles as the foot pedal.

I couldn’t find a list of the components, so I’ll reach out and pop them below if possible. I’m not sure I want to know though—it’d explain away the hog magic. Like the bossy old adage goes: four wheels move your body, but two wheels move your soul, computer, and skeleton that you stole from Mrs. Hansen’s science lab. I’m not sorry.

For more information (forbidden knowledge) on Skull Rider, check out the official build log.
