Resident Evil 4 is arguably the most beloved outing in Capcom's long-running horror series. Originally released in 2005 for Gamecube, it's getting the big-budget remake treatment on March 24, just like Resident Evil 2 and 3 did before it. Like those earlier remakes you should expect some variations from the original, but one things seems relatively certain: with source material as good as this, it'll be a damn fine horror game.

For more on what we know about the Resident Evil 4 remake (opens in new tab), you can do no better than consult our trusty guide (opens in new tab). A few key pointers, though: It'll have a "reimagined storyline", according to the game's official site. It'll look much, much better, as befits a remake of a game that released nearly 20 years ago. Oh, and it's getting a PSVR2 version, which is exciting, but no word yet on whether PC will get a VR port also.

If you're looking to place a pre-order for Resident Evil 4 in Australia, there are quite a few options. As per usual, sites like Fanatical and Green Man Gaming are offering the better prices, compared to purchasing via Steam direct. There won't be a physical copy of Resident Evil 4 either, at least in Australia, so the likes of Amazon and JB Hi-Fi aren't much help for securing a copy of this particular game.

As of late January 2023, here are the best ways to pre-order Resident Evil 4 for PC in Australia, in order of cheapness. Aside from getting the game the moment it releases, a pre-order also grands you two items: the 'Gold' attaché case and a 'Handgun Ammo' charm.

Cheapest Resident Evil 4 pre-orders in Australia

Resident Evil 4 @ Green Man Gaming (opens in new tab) | AU$85.49 AU$71.81 (opens in new tab)
Green Man Gaming and Fanatical are always neck-and-neck; this time, at least for now, Green Man Gaming wins out. More than AU$10 off the RRP is pretty dang good, and seems like the wise purchasing choice. Indeed, the Deluxe Edition is actually cheaper than the Regular Edition's RRP, at AU$83.78 (opens in new tab). If you're a member of GMG you get 838XP.

Resident Evil 4 @ Fanatical (opens in new tab) | AU$85.49 AU$72.66 (opens in new tab)
Only marginally more expensive than Green Man Gaming's deal. If you've got any particular fondness for Fanatical, go with them I guess?

Resident Evil 4 @ Humble Store (opens in new tab) | AU$85.49 (opens in new tab) (with bonuses)
Humble is selling Resident Evil 4 at the usual RRP, but if you happen to be Humble Choice member you can save up to AU$17.10. Membership costs AU$11.99 (opens in new tab) a month.

Resident Evil 4 @ Steam (opens in new tab) | AU$85.49 (opens in new tab)
(opens in new tab)Steam is selling Resident Evil 4 with no discount. Since both Fanatical and Green Man Gaming offer Steam codes as part of their discounted prices, it's cheaper to go with them.

These prices may change over the coming weeks; if we notice that they have, we'll dutifully update the page.
