Can someone pinch me, I think I just found a decent gaming laptop deal for under AU$1,900
It's not top of the line, but it'll run games comfortably for years to come.
i7-13650HX | 16GB RAM | 1TB SSD | RTX 5060
This is a rare good deal on an RTX gaming lappy, especially when you look at the competition: it's AU$20 cheaper than what JB Hi-Fi is currently selling it for, but most other retailers don't get within spitting range (or at least, they do only with the 512GB model). This thing will play anything you throw at it, albeit not at high settings if it's very recent. It's a 15 incher with a 1080p panel and a 144Hz refresh rate, and our review was quite glowing.
If you hit Amazon in October 2026 expecting to find an outstanding price on gaming laptops, RAM or SSD storage, you've probably just awakened from deep freeze. Or at least, that's what I thought before noticing this Lenovo LOQ laptop.
It's currently going for AU$1,879, down from AU$2,599.
Let's look at the specs:
- An Intel Core i7-13650HX CPU (a good mid-range CPU but as Zac Storey mentioned recently, loud)
- An Nvidia RTX 5060 GPU (obvs not a 5070, 5080, or a 5090, but perfect for a 1080p or 1440p gaming with recent blockbusters)
- 16GB RAM (people thought this was getting to be not enough RAM before the RAM crisis kicked in; the RAM crisis has proven them wrong)
- 1TB SSD (a good amount indeed, considering other retailers are selling similarly specced laptops with a 512GB SSD)
- It has a 1080p display with a 144Hz refresh rate (which is well-suited to this config)
Zac Storey reviewed the AMD version of this laptop. His sample had a 512GB SSD rather than a 1TB. Nevertheless, he gave it a solid 81 / 100. "It's so refreshing to be able to just game at your native resolution on a laptop at this price point, without having to worry about dialling the graphics preset down, or swapping around resolutions and getting stretched pixels or worse," he wrote.
The only retailer coming within spitting distance of this price is JB Hi-Fi, who has it for AU$1,899. Granted, you'll need to be a Prime member to enjoy Amazon's AU$20 advantage, but signing up for that is free for the first month, and there's no shipping charges either. Meanwhile, The Good Guys is selling a lower specced version (512GB SSD, i5-13450HX CPU) for the same price as JB Hi-Fi.
In other words, if you're looking for an entry level gaming laptop or, indeed, any kind of laptop, this is a steal at present.
