'The algorithm continues to properly prioritise Mister Biddy Blas'—Star Wars: Galactic Racer has created the perfect creature
Glup would be proud.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is out, and it's pretty solid, netting a firm 76 score in our Galactic Racer review. It's also, as should always be the case with Star Wars videogames, full of funny little guys. None so funny as Biddy Blas. Why is Biddy Blas so popular? Just listen to his voice actor having an absolute ball. I will have the words "SCRIB DOON" burned into my brain forevermore:
I'm not even really seeking out much Galactic Racer content, and this guy's been cropping up on my recommended feeds, as observed by Lucasfilm Games executive producer Craig Derrick on X: "The algorithm continues to properly prioritize Mister Biddy Blas. I love it."
Blas is, in essence, a perfect "Glup Shitto". A fake character used as a sort of symbolic memetic stand-in for obscure Star Wars background characters that somehow become people's favourites. Blas isn't the first crocin to make an appearance in Star Wars, however—that was in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Which is a relatively recent addition for Glup status, and as such I can't tell you much about the Crocin, other than the fact they apparently need to wear those goggles to protect their sensitive eyes from harsh sunlight. Owing to the fact that, on their home planet, they live in big caverns.
For Biddy Blas, however, I can only imagine he needs them to avoid scalding his sclera from the shine of his glorious racing prowess-slash-approaching intergalactic fandom. Which he insists that he already has—hard-earned via a supposed stint as a Huttball player and jatz trumpeter (not to be confused with another music genre, jizz).
He's really just the perfect mixture of shrill-voiced, delusional, and hideous to make his way into all-timer Star Wars character fame. Where he belongs, because he is Biddy Blas. Remember the name.
