Leisure Suit Larry is about to take his final bow
The Wet Dreams games have been marked down dramatically ahead of their final removal from sale.
2018's Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don't Dry was a genuinely pleasant surprise, in that it's actually good—quite a contrast to the preceding games in the series, Magna Cum Laude and Box Office Bust, which were decidedly not good. A sequel followed, Wet Dreams Dry Twice, and once again it was pretty good stuff—not hugely innovative or high art, but a genuine Leisure Suit Larry experience that manages to avoid embarrassing itself (though it embarrasses Larry himself plenty).
Both of them, sadly, are soon going away for good. An announcement on Steam from publisher Assemble Entertainment says both games are being removed from the store on October 23. Ahead of that, they're being offered seriously cheap: 95% off the regular price, dropping them to less than $2 each.
The removal of the Wet Dreams duo effectively puts a pin in a process than began in 2025, when the OG Larry games were removed from sale:
- Leisure Suit Larry – Magna Cum Laude Uncut and Uncensored
- Leisure Suit Larry 1 – In the Land of the Lounge Lizards
- Leisure Suit Larry 2 – Looking For Love (In Several Wrong Places)
- Leisure Suit Larry 3 – Passionate Patti in Pursuit of the Pulsating Pectorals
- Leisure Suit Larry 5 – Passionate Patti Does a Little Undercover Work
- Leisure Suit Larry 6 – Shape Up Or Slip Out
- Leisure Suit Larry 7 – Love for Sail
Leisure Suit Larry 4 managed to avoid the executioner's axe by not existing in the first place.
A reason for this new round of delistings wasn't provided, nor did Assemble comment on the possibility of an eventual return. Expiring licenses rights are a common culprit for this sort of thing, and that seems to be a good bet here: Leisure Suit Larry was originally a Sierra game, which I assume means Assemble licensed the property from Activision for the Wet Dreams duo; given the timing (Wet Dreams Don't Dry was announced in 2018), we're coming up on roughly 10 years since that deal would've been done, which, as someone who's bad at math and thus likes nice round numbers, seems to me like a reasonably possible expiration date for such a deal.
But that's entirely speculation. What's certain is that Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don't Dry and Wet Dreams Dry Twice are going away for good, and ahead of that they're both really cheap on both Steam and GOG—the delisting announcement makes no mention of their fate on GOG but it's a safe assumption they'll be disappeared there, too—until they're gone. Get 'em while they're wet.
