Relax, PC Gamers: We're not getting GTA 6 on November 19, but we've got, um... 'Phantom Vice Auto' launching the same day on Steam
That's probably just as good, right?
Grand Theft Auto 6 releases on November 19, 2026… but not on PC. When is the biggest game in history actually coming to PC? Who knows? More importantly… who even cares?
We don't need GTA 6 on PC because we've got something that promises to be just as big launching the same day. That's right, brace yourself for the highly-anticipated arrival of the self-described "entertainment blockbuster" called, um… Phantom Vice Auto. And it's releasing on Steam on November 19.
Hell yes, fellow PC Gamers! We are going to eat on November 19. I've already forgotten about GTA 6 because the trailer above shows that PVA 1 has everything you could want from an open world action game:
- Man walking
- Man driving
- Man still driving
- Man driving more
- Man running
- Man walking again
- Man has guns
- Man shoots man and man and man
- Man drive more
- Up to 1 outfit for man
What's not to get excited about? Phantom Vice Auto has it all: nearly empty streets for hassle-free driving, a slick radial menu for guns that definitely isn't going to get them C&D'd by Take-Two, the word "Wasted" on the screen when you get killed (how'd they think of that???), a small section of map featuring beach and palm trees that makes you think "Miami, I guess?"—all packed into a trailer that looks like it's 720p even when played in 4K.
That's not all. Sure, Rockstar released 63 new GTA screenshots last week, but so what? Phantom Vice Auto has five screenshots. Let's look at all of them right now and dig into the thrilling details!
Hell yeah! PVA has a pedestrian system! Just look at all those pedestrians. Both of them! And way, way off in the distance, do you see what I see? A third pedestrian, no doubt part of the same system. You think Rockstar has a pedestrian system? Haha, nope!
Well, I mean, they do. They have for like almost 30 years now. But PVA also has one, and that's definitely notable enough that it should be highlighted in the game's very first screenshot on the Steam store. Checkmate, Rockstar!
Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.
Look at this screenshot! I don't know what it is, but it's something! I suspect it shows all the moving parts of these models that were presumably purchased from an asset shop, and that's a lot of moving parts: neck, shoulder, gun part, knee, trigger… mouth, gun part, elbow, pelvis.
I would hate to be Rockstar Games right now.
What else? Another gun part, ankle.. you name it! If you were thinking models in Phantom Vice Auto wouldn't move, you're a damn idiot! There's gonna be stuff swiveling and moving and rotating all over the place! Rad!
That's a watchtower in a prison. Probably because GTA 6 had a scene with someone in prison. So the message Phantom Vice Auto is sending is: also prison! And it's not all cluttered with people like it probably is in GTA 6. That is one sweet, empty prison. Man, I would hate to be Rockstar Games right now.
Now we're cookin'! Autos, just like in the title (I forgot the title while writing this, but I checked and the title is Phantom Vice Auto). So many cars to drive here! This game auto sell a million copies!
Well. Most of these are the same cars with different colors, now that I really look at them. So, to count them up, there's a buggy, an SUV, a sedan, and a sports car, and… yeah, there's four cars. But that's one more car than pedestrian (there were three), and the colors are several. And hey, remember the prison?
I don't know why this is a screenshot in the Steam store. It's a guy jumping and the menu suggests it's inside some sort of 3D model editing software, maybe? It's not even a guy jumping in Miami. He's jumping in a void. Why is this one of the five screenshots? Why are any of the five screenshots one of the five screenshots?
OK, I can't go on. It just plain sucks that we're not getting GTA 6 on PC on November 19 and no amount of pretending to be excited about Phantom Vice Auto is going to change that. Maybe I'll just play something altogether different on November 19... Cats and Pillows is looking pretty nice—even if it doesn't have a pedestrian system.

Chris started playing PC games in the 1980s, started writing about them in the early 2000s, and (finally) started getting paid to write about them in the late 2000s. Following a few years as a regular freelancer, PC Gamer hired him in 2014, probably so he'd stop emailing them asking for more work. Chris has a love-hate relationship with survival games and an unhealthy fascination with the inner lives of NPCs. He's also a fan of offbeat simulation games, mods, and ignoring storylines in RPGs so he can make up his own.
