Best Black Friday PC gaming deals: gaming laptops from $790 and RTX 30-series gaming PCs with deep discounts

Black Friday deals

Black Friday is over, people, so all the best current discounts can be found in our constantly curated Cyber Monday PC gaming deals page

Every retailer, manufacturer, and seller is looking to shave a little money off its prices to get in on the action as we move through into Cyber Week. Our team of hardware experts has been searching high and low for the best deals on gaming PCs, gaming laptops, gaming monitors, SSDs, VR headsets—you name it, we've probably sound something fitting on sale. That said, we've been as discerning as ever in our picks, making sure that only deals that are actually deals make it onto the list.

One thing you're not going to see much this Black Friday unfortunately is deals on graphics cards. The RTX 3080 and RX 6800 XT are the best GPU upgrades we've seen in a long, long time, but the chip shortage means they can sell out even above list price.

We have seen one RX 6900 XT deal, at 50% higher than the price of the reference card, though still below the ASRock MSRP. The good news is that pre-built PC makers can still get their hands on cards, so you can get a new GPU for a reasonable price if you're willing to buy a whole gaming PC to get it.

Plenty of other components are on sale, though: We've found some good SSD deals, and you can grab some cheap RAM sticks for an upgrade. It's a good time to invest in a 1440p, 144Hz display, too.

Below are the best deals we've found so far. We'll be updating this page frequently during and in the days surrounding Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Yet another G15 deal, but this really is quite special coming in at under $800. You get a six-core, 12-thread CPU, and that's also a chunky SSD for a gaming laptop at this price, too.

Its not as sensual to the touch as the Softweave fabric choice, but still boasts immaculately upholstered, premium quality Neo Hybrid Leatherette, and of course fantastic ergonomics.

The fact that we're at a stage where finding a new GPU at MSRP is cause for celebration means that when one turns up with an actual discount it's a red-letter day. The Radeon RX 6900 XT is a very powerful graphics card, and will deliver 4K gaming performance on a wide variety of games. You also get 1 month of Xbox Games Pass and free copies of Far Cry 6 and Resident Evil Village.

Another HP unit, here. This really is a budget PC, too, but with it comes the capability for 1080p gaming and the option to upgrade down the line. It's an all-AMD machine, too, and the 5300G and RX 5500 combo should prove decent if you're planning to get really into CS:GO or League of Legends.

CyberPowerPC Gamer Master | Ryzen 5 3600 | RX 6600 XT | 8GB RAM | 500GB SSD | $1,149.99

CyberPowerPC Gamer Master | Ryzen 5 3600 | RX 6600 XT | 8GB RAM | 500GB SSD | $1,149.99 $999.99 at Best Buy (save $150)
Grabbing a gaming PC with a last-gen CPU can be a great way to bag a Black Friday PC deal this year, especially as they often come strapped to a current-gen GPU. This RX 6600 XT is a very capable 1080p graphics card, and the 500GB SSD will keep enough of your most oft-played games installed. The 8GB of memory is a little low these days, but serviceable, and easily upgraded, as is the Ryzen 5 3600 CPU.

iBuyPower RDY SLMBG205 | Core i7 11700KF | RTX 3070 | 16GB RAM | 1TB SSD | $2,099

It's all about speed with the RDY systems, and that 2-day rush service means you can get hold of your brand new gaming system within days. But then the actual rig is all about speed too, with an eight-core CPU and RTX 3070 GPU doing the gaming good stuff, and a 1TB PCIe SSD making Windows 11 feel super slick.

iBuyPower Gaming RDY SLHRG208 |AMD Ryzen 7 5800X |Nvidia RTX 3070 | $2,199

iBuyPower Gaming RDY SLHRG208 |AMD Ryzen 7 5800X |Nvidia RTX 3070 | $2,199 $1,949 at iBuypower (save $250)
This iBuypower gaming PC manages to strike a great balance between performance and value. Packing an RTX 3070 and a Ryzen 7 5800X for under $2,000 is no easy feat, but iBuypower has managed it without cutting any corners. Windows 11, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB NVMe SSD are all present and correct. This is a great deal.

Alienware Aurora R12

CyberPower Gamer Supreme | AMD Ryzen 9 5900X| AMD RX 6700 XT | 16GB RAM | 1TB SSD + 1TB HDD | $2,289.99 $2,099.99 at Microsoft (Save $190.00)
Here's a juicy, all AMD gaming PC with a decent chunk of money off. It's not the greatest deal, as that graphics card isn't quite up to par with others at this price range, but certainly worth a look if you're wanting to get the full AMD experience and a high core count CPU. Plus, that's a nice chunk of storage to keep you going.

Dell XPS Desktop Special Edition

Dell XPS Desktop Special Edition | Intel Core i7 11700 | Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti | 32GB | 1TB SSD | $2,099.99 $1,469.99 at Dell (save $630)
It's not often you find an RTX 3060 Ti in a system these days, and that's a shame because it's one of our favourite graphics cards this generation. This PC is surprisingly a good deal, too. It has a great GPU, CPU, and comes with a generous 32GB of RAM and 1TB of speedy SSD storage. It doesn't look particularly 'gamer', but we can live with that.

Alienware Aurora R12

Alienware Aurora R12 | Intel Core i7 11700F | Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti | 16GB RAM | 512GB NVMe SSD | $1,999.99 $1,371.99 at Dell (save $628)
One of our favourite Alienware models, with a very juicy config, is now just $1,371.99 at Dell. It won't be around for long, but while it's here you can get an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and 11th gen, Intel Core i7 CPU for a massive saving.

Dell XPS desktop

Dell XPS Desktop | Intel Core i5 11700 | Nvidia RTX 3060 | 32GB RAM | 512GB SSD | $1,799.99 $1,322.99 at Dell (save $477)
The understated styling of the XPS will appeal if you're not interested in lighting up your room while playing games maxed out at 1080p and pushing 1440p at high refresh. This system has plenty of surprises, too. The 32GB of RAM and great 11th Gen Core i7 processor make it a serious all-rounder for gaming and more.

ABS Master | Intel Core i5 11400F | Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti | 16GB RAM | 1TB SSD | $1,699.99

ABS Master | Intel Core i5 11400F | Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti | 16GB RAM | 1TB SSD | $1,699.99 $1,499.99 at Newegg (save $200)
This isn't quite as good a deal as the above Dell systems, but it does come with three free games from Intel and Nvidia. Plus it looks the part and comes with out of the box components, so some might prefer that to the more pre-built Dell systems above. Worth considering then, with a decent discount.

EK Fluid Gaming PC 250 Conquest

EK-Fluid Gaming PC 270 Vanquish | Ryzen 7 5800X | Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti | 32GB RAM | 3TB SSD | $3,499.99 $2,999 at EK-Fluid (save $500)
There are way cheaper ways to get a 30-series card right now, but none of them come packed with EK-Fluid's custom liquid-cooling case, and this is the best price we've seen for one with specs this impressive.

That's a colossal saving on a prime slice of gaming real estate, packing quality hardware from Intel and Nvidia to make sure it demolishes your games. The RTX 3070 is a great option for this thin and light chassis, as it'll knock out killer frame rates and make the most of the 360Hz display for a buttery-smooth experience too. A great saving on a great laptop.

Dell G15

Dell G15 | 15.6-inch| Core i5 11400H | RTX 3050 Ti | 1080p | 120Hz | 8GB RAM | 512GB SSD | $1,218.99 $783.99 at Dell (save $435)
Yet another G15 deal, but this really is quite special coming in at under $800. We've not spent much time with the RTX 3050 Ti, but it essentially offers RTX 2060-level gaming performance and that sort of laptop cost $1,000+ just six months ago. You get a six-core, 12-thread CPU, and hat's also a chunky SSD for a gaming laptop at this price, too.

Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED (2020)

Gigabyte Aero 15 | 15.6-inch | Intel Core i7 11800H | Nvidia RTX 3080 | 4K AMOLED | 16GB RAM | 1TB SSD | $2,199 $1,899 at Newegg after rebate (save $1,100)
This beauty may only come with a 60Hz screen but it's 4K and AMOLED (even better than OLED). That GPU will spit up mega frame rates, even at such ultra-high resolution, too. And paired with a powerful 11th Gen Intel CPU, plenty of RAM, and masses of storage, it's great value even before the rebate.

Gigabyte Aero 17 HDR

Gigabyte Aero 17 HDR YD | Nvidia RTX 3080 | Intel Core i9 11980HK | 32GB RAM | 1TB + 512GB SSD | 4K IPS | $3,649.99 $2,749.99 after rebate at Newegg (save $900)
This is worth making the most of considering it's a machine with an RTX 3080 and 11th Gen Core i9 chip. That's topped with a gorgeous 4K IPS screen and boatloads of RAM—so great for multitasking any high-res antics. Plus lots of space to store all your games, and their high fidelity textures. This really is a steal for under $3,000.

$2,399

Gigabyte Aorus 15P YD | Nvidia RTX 3080 | Intel Core i7 11800H | 32GB RAM | 1TB SSD | $2,399 $1,949 at Newegg (save $450)
No immense 4K screen here, only 1080p, but who needs super high resolution when you can have speed? This RTX 3080 and Intel 11th Gen lappy is topped with a 300Hz panel and more ram than you could shake a... stick at. Right now, at under $2K, its worth a look.

MSI GP66 Leopard

MSI GP66 Leopard | Nvidia RTX 3080 | Intel Core i7 11800H | 16GB RAM | 1TB SSD | $2,299 $1,799 after rebate at Newegg (save $500)
For a laptop with an RTX 3080 and 11th Gen Intel CPU, this is a pretty good get. Not only do you get a smashing 240Hz screen to cater for the sky-high framerates it'll be pumping out, you also get a good amount of storage, too.

Razer Blade 14

Razer Blade 14 | Ryzen 9 5900HX | RTX 3070 | 1440p | 1TB SSD | 16GB RAM | $2,199.99 $2,000.99 at Microsoft (save $199)
Listed as the 'most desirable compact gaming laptop' in our guide, the Razer Blade 14 is a juicy gaming companion in any configuration. This one combines an AMD CPU and Nvidia GPU to take on todays top games even at 1440p, that's with a tasty 165Hz refresh rate, too.

Alienware M15 R6

Alienware m15 R6 | Intel Core i7 11800H | Nvidia RTX 3080 | 1080p | 2TB SSD | 32GB RAM | $2,859.99 $2,508.79 at Dell (save $351.20)
With an RTX 3080, and an 11th Gen Intel core i7 11800H you'll be flying through those frame rates with the gaming laptop. And it's topped with a super speedy 360Hz panel, with 1ms response and Nvidia G-Sync for a competitive edge, along with boatloads of RAM and 2TB of M.2 PCIe storage to keep it all chugging along nicely.

Dell G15

Dell G15 Special Edition | 15.6-inch | Intel Core i7 11800H | Nvidia RTX 3060 | 1080p | 165Hz | 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD | $1,588.99 $1,459.21 at Dell (save $129.78)
It's not what we'd call a smashing deal, but it's one worth considering. There's not a great deal of storage, but for a machine with 30-series card, a good CPU and a tasty 165Hz screen to top it off, it's not terrible, especially in this day and age.

MSI Pulse GL66

MSI GF65 Thin | 15.6-inch | Intel Core i7 10750H | Nvidia RTX 3060 | 1080p | 144Hz | 16GB RAM | 512GB NVMe SSD | $1,299 $1,049 after $100 rebate at Newegg (save $200)
A decent CPU combined with an RTX 3060 for just over a grand, you can't go wrong really. With a nippy 144Hz monitor, and 16GB of ram keeping it chugging along, you can bet it'll see you right for most gaming as it's been one of our favourites for a while. Plus, it's eligible for Black Friday Price protection.

Gigabyte G5 Gaming Laptop

Gigabyte G5 KC | 15.6-inch | Intel Core i5 10500H| Nvidia RTX 3060 | 1080p | 144Hz | 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD | $1,199 $999 after at Newegg (save $200)
We love an RTX 3060 gaming laptop with a discount, and for under $1,000, this is almost as good as it gets. That GPU and CPU combo will make for great 1080p, high-refresh gaming, and while there's not a huge amount of storage, those can be easily upgraded. As can the battery, and you can even add in a HDD if you so fancy.

Gigabyte G5 Gaming Laptop

Gigabyte G5 | 15.6-inch | Intel Core i5 11400H | Nvidia RTX 3050 | 1080p | 144Hz | 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD | $1,199 $849 at Newegg after rebate (save $350)
A solid laptop at a very decent price, the Gigabyte G5 is a good way to take your Steam library on the road if you're looking for something a little more practical than, say, a Steam Deck. And don't forget the $100 rebate!

MSI Pulse GL66

MSI Pulse GL66 | 15.6-inch | Intel Core i7 11800H | Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti | 1080p | 144Hz | 16GB RAM | 1TB HDD + 512GB SSD | $1,299 $999 after $100 rebate at Newegg (save $300)
A laptop with a great CPU and a pretty nippy current-gen GPU for under a grand is not to be taken lightly. It's a step-down in terms of GPU to the laptop above, which isn't ideal if you're purely gaming on this machine, though it comes with far more storage space and a better eight-core CPU for more editing and productivity smarts.

Dell G15 | 15.6-inch | 120Hz | Intel Core i5 10500H | Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti | 8GB | 512GB SSD | $1,218.99

Dell G15 | 15.6-inch | 120Hz | Intel Core i5 10500H | Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti | 8GB | 512GB SSD | $1,218.99 $799.99 at Dell (save $419)
It's a bit of a trade-off situation between these two sub-$1,000 G15 machines. This cheaper version does come with a larger 512GB SSD, but the RTX 3050 Ti and single channel 8GB memory means it's a weaker all-round gaming laptop compared with the all-AMD version. But then, it is also over $100 cheaper.

Dell XPS 13 laptop | 13-inch |Intel Core i5 1135G7 | Integrated Intel Xe Graphics | 1080p | 8GB RAM | 256GB SSD | $949.99 $649.99 at Dell (save $300)
This XPS 13 is one of the most portable and bag-friendly Windows laptops around. It folds down to an incredibly slim size, though maintains a high level of durability and quality. We've used these laptops plenty, and we really rate them. This one is pretty much as entry-level as it gets, but it's a decent price for a very well-made laptop that would be great for school.

With an 11th gen Intel processor, this thin, light lappy is bound to see you right for $540. It doesn't have the mega core-count of some chips, but Hyper-Threading means performance is practically doubled from previous generations. It can also boost up to 4.9 GHz from 2.4 GHz if your workload depends on it.

Lenovo ThinkBook 15

ThinkBook 15 Gen 3 AMD | 15-inch | AMD Ryzen 5 5500U | Integrated AMD Radeon Graphics | 1080p | 8GB RAM | 512GB SSD | $1,129 $733.85 at Lenovo (save $395.15)
If you want a portable machine for remote access to your documents in the cloud, this ThinkBook offers a decent processor at a good price. It doesn't offer particularly beefy specs, and you definitely won't be able to game on this one, but it offers enough for a lightweight and backpack-friendly work or school laptop. Just bear in mind this laptop was a touch cheaper earlier in the week, and so may drop in price again.

ThinkPad L14 Gen 2 Intel | 14-inch | Intel Core i7 1165G7 | Integrated Intel Xe graphics | 1080p | 16GB RAM | 1TB SSD | $2,369

Lenovo may have been a little generous with its reported saving on this one, but nonetheless, this laptop comes with a great processor backing it up: Intel's Core i7 1165G7. This chip is fast and quick, and comes with the top Intel Xe graphics that we've tested out ourselves in gaming. Combine that with great storage and RAM capacity, and you're looking at a do-it-all productivity pad.

Alienware AW3821DW

Alienware AW3821DW | 38-inch | 1600p | IPS | $1,949.99 $1,099.99 at Dell (save $850)
From the 'go big or go home' school of monitor design, this curved monster is for anyone that wants to hit that truly immersive gaming experience. At 3840x1600 it has the same horizontal resolution as a 4K panel, but it isn't quite as tall—it'll still punish your graphics card though. The 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response times, and VESA DisplayHDR 600 round out an impressive overall package.

Cooler Master GM34-CW

Cooler Master GM34-CW | 34-inch | Ultrawide | VA | 144Hz | $749 $629 at B&H Photo (save $120)
The impeccable colour you get from this immense 34-inch screen in pretty nice, and the contrast isn't bad either. This is a 3440 x 1440p VA panel which is a good resolution for this size monitor. For gaming you get a 144Hz refresh to make the most of high frame rates, and G-Sync and Freesync, to boot.

Samsung Odyssey G7 | 28-inch | 4K | IPS | 144Hz $799.99

Samsung Odyssey G7 | 28-inch | 4K | IPS | 144Hz $799.99 $649.99 at Best Buy (save $150)
Samsung's G7 is a popular screen, and that's no doubt thanks to its great panel quality and high refresh rate. It's definitely not the cheapest 4K monitor going, but for that extra cash you get a great build quality and rapid speed, perfect for competitive gaming. It also supports both Nvidia and AMD variable refresh rate technologies, and comes with a flattering IPS panel.

Samsung Odyssey G7 | 26.9-inch | 1440p | 240Hz $699.99 $499.99 at B&H (save $200)
Another option on the G7 is to drop down to 1440p and save a little extra money. It does pop you up to 240Hz at the same time, and are you really going to miss the 1.1-inch reduction in size? Well, only you can answer that.

Gigabyte Aorus FI32U

Aorus FI32U | 32-inch | 4K | IPS | 144Hz | $999.99 $899.99 at Newegg (save $100)
4K is best viewed above 32-inches, and you don't really want to forgo on picture quality when you're paying for extra pixels. That's why this 32-inch, IPS is a great fit for gaming, helped along massively by a 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. Now all you need is a great graphics card to feed it with a constant flow of frames.

Gigabyte Aorus FV43U

Aorus FV43U | 43-inch | 4K | VA QLED | 144Hz | $1,099.99 $899.99 at Newegg (save $200)
If you want to go bigger than your peers, then this 43-inch monitor is a good fit. You lose out on the quality IPS of the smaller screen, but instead, you get a VA with Quantum Dot tech. Note this is an 'open box' discount, so it's worth checking you're happy with that before buying.

Samsung LU28E570

Samsung UE57 | 28-inch | 4K | TN | 60Hz | $349.99 $249.99 at Amazon (save $100)
You know we said don't settle for a 60Hz or a TN panel? Well, here we are recommending both in just one panel, but this is a 4K monitor from a good brand at a really tempting price, so we'll make an exception. A 28-inch panel at 3840x2160 makes for a pleasing 157ppi and if you need to work as well as play, then 4K does make for a more productive time.

LG 27GN800-B Ultragear Gaming Monitor | 27-inch | 1440p | 144Hz | IPS | G-Sync, FreeSync | $399.99

LG 27GN800-B Ultragear Gaming Monitor | 27-inch | 1440p | 144Hz | IPS | G-Sync, FreeSync | $399.99  $276.99 at Amazon (save $123)
This LG gaming monitor is at an all-time low price and delivers 144Hz at 1440p. If you need a high refresh rate monitor that supports G-Sync and FreeSync this is a great choice, just mind the lackluster stand (it is VESA mountable).

Gigabyte M27Q 27-inch 170 Hz

Gigabyte M27Q | 27-inch | 1440p | IPS | 170Hz | $359.99 $279.99 at Newegg (save $80)
Flick through the specifications of this gaming monitor and you'll be surprised to see how much is on offer at this price: 170Hz, FreeSync Premium, IPS panel, 0.5ms response time. All good stuff, and there are tons of really positive reviews for this one online, including this one from our sister site Tom's Hardware, which makes it look like quite the deal.

Alienware AW2721D | 27-inch | 1440p | IPS | 240Hz | $1,109.99 $799.99 at Dell (save $310)
This Alienware monitor hits that 1440p sweet spot at an impressive 240Hz refresh rate and a 1ms (GtG) response time. This thing is fast. And at 450 cd/m2 it's pretty bright too. This would normally set you back $1,110, but right now you can pick it up for a penny under $800. That's a quality saving on a quality screen.

Acer Predator XB271HU | 27-inch | 1440p | IPS | 144Hz | $469.99

Acer Predator XB271HU | 27-inch | 1440p | IPS | 144Hz | $469.99 $379.99 at Amazon (save $90)
For Acer's flagship monitor this is a great deal. We hold a special place in our hearts for the Predator. The IPS panel may not have the best colours and contrast around, but it's built for performance. With a 4ms response time and an overclockable 144Hz refresh, you'll be flying in competitive games.

MSI Optix MAG321CQR | 32-inch | 1440p | VA | 144Hz | $479.99

MSI Optix MAG321CQR | 32-inch | 1440p | VA | 144Hz | $479.99 $289.98 at Amazon (save $180)
This is a huge saving on a quality 1440p VA panel that can make for some silky smooth refresh rates. The 1800R curve is subtle enough to add to the immersive experience without getting in the way too. It's FreeSync and G-Sync compatible too.

Dell S3222DGM | 32-inch | 1440p | VA | 165Hz | $529.99

With a curved panel and a rather nice 165Hz refresh, not to mention the 1ms response time, this Asus TUF gaming monitor is not to be sniffed at. It's one of our favorite monitors and the model is only a couple of years old. Not a bad buy.

LG UltraGear 32GN600 | 32-inch | 1440p | VA | 165Hz | $349

LG UltraGear 32GN600 | 32-inch | 1440p | VA | 165Hz | $349 $249 at Walmart (save $100)
As we said at the beginning, high-refresh 1440p monitors are where it's at right now, and this LG UltraGear screen is a great example of why that's the case. Big, bold, and bright, it'll make pretty much everything you play look great, and that 165Hz refresh rate will make it silky smooth too. This is a great deal.

Acer XG270HU

Acer XG270HU | 27-inch | 1440p | TN | 144Hz | $349.99 $289.99 at Newegg (save $60)
You may be able to get IPS and VA panels for this sort of cash, but there's still something to be said for this speedy TN screen for gaming. High-refresh rates and 1ms response times make it a punchy offering, and viewed straight on the colors are decent. It's got a tiny bezels on the top and sides for multi-screen setups, and also supports AMD FreeSync for smooth gaming.

AOC C32G2ZE

AOC C32G2ZE | 32-inch | 1080p | VA | 240Hz | $329.99 $279.99 at Amazon (save $50)
32 inches may make 1080p seem a tad stretched, but this is still a pretty good deal on a vast, curved gaming monitor—that's even without the ridiculous 0.5ms response, and 240Hz refresh rate. Here you're getting excellent contrast, accurate color, and AMD FreeSync to help reduce screen tear.

Samsung HMD Odyssey

Samsung Odyssey G3 | 24-inch | 1080p | VA | 144Hz | $279.99 $199.99 at Amazon (save $80)
One of our favorite gaming monitors is an Odyssey, this is just the toned-down version. At 144Hz, with a 1ms response, it can still hold its own. It even comes with Freesync, which is great for those packing an AMD GPU.

Sceptre E275B-FPT165 | 27-inch | 1080p | IPS | 165Hz | $227.48 $199.97 at Amazon (save $27.51)
It's not the highest resolution monitor, but a nice 165Hz refresh and 1ms response time is not to be sniffed at for that price. It's more built for speed than image fidelity. Plus, you're looking at nice 27 inch IPS panel, so there's that.

Samsung T350 | 1080p | IPS | 4ms response time | 75Hz | $189.99

Samsung T350 | 1080p | IPS | 4ms response time | 75Hz | $189.99 $109.99 at Best Buy (save $80)
Now we're talking cheap monitors, let's look at the Samsung T350 on offer at Best Buy. This is actually a monitor we've come in contact with a lot, as Jacob used to have a pair of these at home. These don't offer the most amazing picture quality in the world, but if you're looking for a cheap way to buy two monitors at once, this is it.

Samsung Q60A | 32-inch | QLED | 4K | $497.99 $397.99 at B&H Photo (save $100)
This Samsung screen is a great fit for most living rooms. It's not rapid-fast like some of the others on this list, but say you only want to play Stardew Valley on the big screen, it's pretty darn good. Similarly, it's good for, you know, watching TV.

Black Friday NVMe SSD deals

SanDisk Ultra | 1TB | PCIe 3.0 | $229.99

SanDisk Ultra | 1TB | PCIe 3.0 | $229.99 $79.99 at Best Buy (save $150)
One whole terabyte of NVMe storage is what's on offer here. And sure, it's no lightning-fast PCIe 4.0 SSD, but they're twice the price for this big a drive. And it's still around 4x the speed of a SATA SSD and I can't even calculate how much faster it is than your old hard drive. Will make a speedy extension to your games library, or a decent boot drive in its own right.

Samsung 980 Pro 1TB

Samsung 980 Pro | 1TB | PCIe 4.0 | $229.99 $169.99 at Amazon (save $60)
Samsung's premium next-gen internal SSD may not top the charts, but it's still a solid performer and has enjoyed some healthy price cuts since its launch. Strong 4K performance and solid real-world performance make for a quality option, particularly at this price.

Seagate FireCuda 530

Seagate FireCuda 530 | 1TB | PCIe 4.0 | $249.99 $189.99 at Newegg (save $54)
The FireCuda 530 is one of the fastest drives around but is held back somewhat by its high price. With the SN850 and 980 Pro offering roughly the same performance but for a lot less, it's been hard to unreservedly recommend Seagate's drove. This $40 saving helps on that front, and if you're looking for some super speedy storage, this won't disappoint.

Western Digital Black SN850 NVMe SSD

WD_Black SN850 | 2TB | PCIe 4.0 | $529.99 $319.99 at Amazon (save $210)

Samsung 970 Evo Plus

Samsung 970 Evo Plus | 2TB | PCIe 3.0 | $329.99 $199.99 at Best Buy (save $130)
It wasn't that long ago that this was the overall best SSD you could get your hands on. While we've had faster PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs recently, this is still a decent buy, especially at this price. 2TB of speedy NVMe storage will cover you for a good chunk of your steam library, and it'll make Windows fly too.

Kingston NV1 | 2TB | PCIe 3.0 | $199.99

Kingston NV1 | 2TB | PCIe 3.0 | $199.99 $144.99 at Adorama (save $60)
This is absolutely a budget NVMe SSD, but one that rolls in at such a good price that it's almost impossible to ignore. The performance won't trouble other NVMe drives, but it'll still leave any SATA drive eating dust. It's DRAM-less and fairly barebones, but for the money, you can't really complain.

Western Digital Black SN850 NVMe SSD

WD_Black SN850 | 1TB | PCIe 4.0 | $229.99 $149.99 at Best Buy (save $80)
Out of all the next-gen PCIe 4.0 SSDs we've tested, this is the one that stands out as offering the absolute best performance around. It runs a bit on the toasty side, so you'll need good airflow in your system, but once you've got that sorted you'll enjoy incredible performance in your games.

Black Friday SATA SSD deals

Samsung 870 QVO

Samsung 870 QVO | 2TB | SATA | $229.99 $179.99 at Best Buy (save $50)
This is a pretty good price for a big ol' chunk of SSD storage. If you're looking to boot the hard drives out of your rig, then this is one of the more affordable ways of doing so. Samsung's a good brand, and while the 870 QVO is nothing to get excited about in terms of performance, it'll serve you well.

Samsung 870 Evo 1TB

Samsung 870 EVO | 1TB | SATA | $169.99 $109.99 at Best Buy (save $60)
This is a pretty nippy little sata SSD, renowned for its consistency in 530MB/s read and around 510MB/s write speed averages. And there's enough space here to rid yourself of that pesky HDD for good—and it's especially worth is for that price.

WD Blue 1TB WDS100

Western Dgitial Blue | 1TB | SATA | $189.99 $89.99 at Best Buy (saving $100)
Best Buy may be pushing it a bit with that saving as this drive hasn't been that much for years, but this is still a 1TB SATA drive from a respected brand for under $90. It'll outperform a hard drive any day of the week, and it won't be as hot or noisy when doing so. Reads peak at 560MB/s with writes a little slow at 530MB/s, but both are close to the interface's maximum throughput.
