These next-gen OLED and mini-LED gaming monitors will thrill your senses

This means the display can instantly transform into a more-shoot’em-up-friendly WFHD (2560 x 1080) resolution unit with a rapid 330Hz refresh rate, that better suits their needs. Indeed, the latter marries with the panel’s crazy-quick 0.03ms GTG pixel response time to all-but banish blurriness and ensure you remain competitive in fast paced firefights.

LG also builds in UL-verified eye comfort technology (with Eyesafe 3.0 certifications) to reduce blue light helping fend-off eye fatigue. There’s also built-in OLED Care to reduce the potential of image burn-in.

27-inch LG UltraGear evo GM9

LG’s 27-inch UltraGear evo GM9 looks like a traditional monitor at first glance, but it doesn’t take long to realise there’s much more than meets the eye. First up, there’s the 5120 x 2880 (5K) resolution which provides a super-high 218 PPI pixel pitch for incredible sharpness and image clarity.

LG’s special Hyper mini LED backlighting with ‘Zero Optical Distance’ technology (which reduces the panel-to-backlight gap to near zero) uses 5.9x more LEDs across 1.5x more dimming zones than convention mini-LEDs², to ensure that colours get incredibly bright (1,250-nit peak brightness³), contrast (HDR 1000-rated) remains incredibly high, blacks aren’t washed out (meaning dark scenes retain texture and clarity) and light bleed and blooming effects are reduced.

It too is a dual-mode display so it can easily switch from 5K, 165Hz to QHD (2,560 x 1,440) with a super-rapid 330Hz refresh rate (with 1ms GTG pixel response time) to suit competitive FPS players.

Shared features

Both monitors utilise the latest connectivity, including two HDMI 2.1 ports, USB-C (with 90-Watt Power Delivery that can simultaneously connect and charge your laptop⁴ with just one cable) plus, the latest DP 2.1 (UHBR 20) port for future-proofing connections to forthcoming zero-compression, 80Gbps graphics cards. This gives you the option to connect a desktop PC, gaming console and laptop, and switch between them without needing to swap any cables.

Creative professionals will appreciate that both monitors support 99% DCI-P3 coverage (99% for the 27-inch UltraGear evo GM9, and 99.5% for the 39-inch UltraGear evo GX9). This means a broader colour gamut is available to editors of photographs and video content.

Both panels support G-Sync and Freesync Premium Pro to help reduce image tearing.

Both stands facilitate generous tilt, height and swivel adjustments. The GM9 also supports pivot adjustment.
