Autonomous ErgoChair Ultra 2: was $499 now $449 at Autonomous Inc

If you want a classy office chair that adjusts to your body shape without resorting to endless dials and levers, the ErgoChair Ultra 2 is a solid choice.

Key specs: Self-adjusting mesh back | 320 lbs max weight | 36.5 lbs chair weight | 25° recline | Lifetime warranty

Earlier this week, I posted my review of this Autonomous ErgoChair Ultra 2, and to cut to the chase, it achieved a score of 82%, thanks to its flexible and comfortable back support, adjustable seat depth, and low weight.

And right now, Autonomous has knocked $50 off the $499 asking price. Putting that discount with the free shipping and lifetime warranty, and you've got an office chair that's well worth considering.

While it's not perfect (I mean, the score isn't 100%, is it?), there isn't anything bad about this chair: It's simply a case of whether it suits your needs and preferences over the many other choices that are on the market at a similar price.

Due to my scrawny build, I've never really got on with mesh chairs, but this one has been super comfortable. That's mostly down to the funky back, which effectively moulds to your body, supporting you without using big dials and levers you have to twist about.

Personally, I'd prefer the seat to have a bit more foam to it, and I'd also prefer the armrests to lock more firmly in place. They're easy to adjust for position and rotation, but a bit too easy for my taste.

What tips this deal, though, isn't just the quality of the chair, but the fact that you've got a reasonable saving with the $50 discount, along with free shipping and a lifetime warranty. Many chairs will only give you three years, so that's a clear win for Autonomous.

If you like your chairs to be light in weight, easy to move about, and cool to sit in during the summer heat, the ErgoChair Ultra 2 should be on your list of perches to ponder and peruse.

Nick, gaming, and computers all first met in the early 1980s. After leaving university, he became a physics and IT teacher and started writing about tech in the late 1990s. That resulted in him working with MadOnion to write the help files for 3DMark and PCMark. After a short stint working at Beyond3D.com, Nick joined Futuremark (MadOnion rebranded) full-time, as editor-in-chief for its PC gaming section, YouGamers. After the site shutdown, he became an engineering and computing lecturer for many years, but missed the writing bug. Cue four years at TechSpot.com covering everything and anything to do with tech and PCs. He freely admits to being far too obsessed with GPUs and open-world grindy RPGs, but who isn't these days?
