How to get silver in Subnautica 2
Scrounge up some shiny silver to craft a better air tank.
Tracking down silver in Subnautica 2 is your first challenge where crafting materials are concerned. You'll need this metal to craft the air tank, which will let you stay underwater longer, and as you've likely surmised, breathing is kind of important in this game—I guess it's always important, but especially so in this game.
You also use silver to craft wiring kits, so it's vital for their advanced versions, as well as system chips, and dedicated cores, all of which you use to build important base facilities, as well as the Tadpole vehicle. All that said, here's the best place to get silver close to the Lifepod where you start, and more generally where to find more of it.
Subnautica 2 silver location
Just like all of the other metals and minerals in Subnautica 2, you can find smaller nodes of silver which you can collect by hand, or much bigger ones, which will require the Sonic Resonator to mine. The first of these you're likely to encounter is while searching for Chap's black box, just in the cave next to his habitation.
More generally, you'll find silver in caves close to the Old Habitat colony ruins, around 350 meters to the north of the Lifepod. You'll be directed here by NOA during a mission to find a black box. However, if you want silver, there's a really good cave not too far north from the Life Pod which I'll show you how to get to above. In case you can't watch the clip:
- Head north from the Lifepod past the Coral Dome on top of the pillar in the open area, with the adaptation tree to your right
- You'll spot a ruined colony building straight ahead and to the right a little further on—before it, there's a concealed cave entrance to your right, below an overhang with some Jelly Lei dangling from it
This cave is incredible for silver, particularly the little nodes you can easily grab, so fill your pockets. Hell, maybe even bring a portable locker to stuff some extra silver in and carry it back to base—you can find one in the cave directly below the Life Pod.
