If you've just jumped into Hello Kitty Island Adventure's City Town DLC, you'll want to start befriending the game's newest character, Usahana, as fast as possible. This isn't just because she's a fantastic addition to the crew of Hello Kitty and her friends, but because this is your key to making your way through City Town's "story". The friendship quests you unlock via Usahana are what help to bring the majority of City Town to life and begin to open up the new space.
Unless you've got a plethora of Friendship Blossoms and Bouquets, gifting and levelling up her friendship can be a pretty lengthy process. As always, you can only give three gifts a day to Usahana, so it's best to make the most of them if you don't have any of these magic flowers. Here's what you need to know about picking the perfect present for your new pal.
Best gifts for Usahana in Hello Kitty Island Adventure
Usahana likes any gifts tagged with Imagination, Mochi, and Rainbow. So, if you've found anything that matches one or more of these, you're probably onto a one-heart gift at the very least. The following table lists the easiest gifts you can gather for Usahana around City Town to save you from having to spend a lot of crafting materials or a lot of time wandering, at the very least:

One-heart gifts | Colorpillar Rainbow beam Any flavour of Boba Any Plush Pals |
Two-heart gifts | Any flavour of mochi Any flavour of dango |
Three-heart gifts | Rainbow Dango |
Colorpillars are by far the easiest gift to start collecting to give Usahana as you'll be able to catch them around City Town from the very moment you arrive. Even if you don't need one for a quest, I'd suggest catching them every time you see one so you've got a surplus to hand should you need something to tip Usahana's friendship to the next level.
Once you've hit friendship level 3 with Usahana, you'll be able to complete the "A Whole New Menu" quest too, which unlocks the ability to make mochi. As long as you've got Rice Flour, which can be crafted by taking Rice to the Chef's Station, you can use any ingredient you've gathered from Friendship Island to create mochi which Ushana is happy to receive.
Aside from these extra ingredients, much like Cogimyun's preferred gifts in the Wheatflour Wonderland DLC, all of Usahana's favourite gifts can exclusively be found in City Town. This does make it slightly harder to know where to start with gifting, but as soon as you start baking and collecting the critters around City Town, you'll realise just how happy Usahana is to receive all sorts of gifts.

Kara is an evergreen writer. Having spent five years as a games journalist guiding, reviewing, or generally waffling about the weird and wonderful, she’s more than happy to tell you all about which obscure indie games she’s managed to sink hours into this week. When she’s not raising a dodo army in Ark: Survival Evolved or taking huge losses in Tekken, you’ll find her helplessly trawling the internet for the next best birdwatching game because who wants to step outside and experience the real thing when you can so easily do it from the comfort of your living room. Right?
