It was Pathfinder: Kingmaker's eighth birthday yesterady, so I'd like to shout out one of my all-time favorite bits of fantasy character art. This Orc assassin portrait basically captured my go-to, home base character for every fantasy RPG: I like being sneaky, I like doing DPS with a short sword or two, and I like orcs.
I even chopped and screwed a version of this image to work as a custom portrait in the OG Baldur's Gates to represent my Half-Orc Fighter/Thief. It's just such a cool interpretation of a rogue-type character.
It was drawn by former Owlcat artist Akim Kaliberda, who incidentally has a great post on his personal ArtStation page documenting the process from sketch to finished work. While Kaliberda is no longer part of the company, Owlcat still has some of the best RPG character portraits in the biz—Rogue Trader's are incredible, and Dark Heresy looks like it'll continue the tradition.
