Persona 6 gets announced in the same style as The Elder Scrolls 6–just the name

Well, it looks like the Persona 4 remake really wasn't the only Persona game in attendance during today's Xbox Games Showcase. Atlus also showed up with a brief trailer for Persona 6, confirming what we (sort of) already knew: it's happening.

I couldn't tell you anything about the Atlus RPG from the trailer—it's just a few flashes of vaguely spooky imagery, but it at least feels thematically on brand. Some judgy pointing fingers, a few rows of tombstones, a haunting statue with the looming shadow of a person reaching for it.

But don't worry, I'm sure the eagle-eyed Persona community will be scrubbing these few seconds for months. If there's anything to be gleaned from it, they'll all have it figured out soon enough. If you want to start on the task yourself, have a look at the trailer:

Even if I'm a bit exhausted by teases like this one, The Elder Scrolls 6, and every other game that just reveals a bare-bones sign of life, I can't help but admit that a Persona reveal gets me sitting straight up in my chair. It reminds me of Persona 5's first teaser with the five chairs all lined up and a single line of text. I just hope Atlus is further along with this one; Persona 5 took three years between its first announcement and eventual launch.

That's still better than the Elder Scrolls 6 situation, though. Now we just have to wait and see which launches first.
