Receiving the A Bulwark Against Darkness quest in Blood of Dawnwalker is a bit of a surprise, coming, as it does, from a smuggler who's been sent to infiltrate Vale Sangora just to give you this message. Your mysterious benefactor details a special set of armour that can help you in your fight against Brencis, though only if you find all of the components for yourself—what a cheapskate. I'll explain each component location below and how to forge the legendary Arbiter set at the end of it.

How to complete A Bulwark Against Darkness in Blood of Dawnwalker

You'll get given an armor component list by a courier after you reforge Mihai's silver sword (Image credit: Rebel Wolves)

After you read the mysterious letter and the list of armour components, you'll have to track down all four using the clues the list gives you. Here's where to find each.

Relic of a Saint location

You can grab the Saint's Tibia from a corpse at the bottom of a ladder in St. Tyna's Convent (Image credit: Rebel Wolves)

There are multiple relics you can grab during the game, but the easiest is the Saint's Tibia, which you can find in St. Tyna's Convent during Anca's Echoes of Silenced Bells quest. When you arrive in the big inner convent courtyard (where the majority of the quest takes place), look for a corpse below a ladder on the west side of the area. You can also use the Relic of St. Tyna itself, but you'd be sacrificing a purple rarity amulet.

The other relics you can find are:

  • If you complete Vicho's Study in Crimson quest in Svartrau, you can purchase a legendary relic from him.
  • During Lacra's The Night of Horrors quest, you'll find this legendary relic with a severed arm while exploring the swamp.

Either way, your best bet is using that Saint's Tibia item instead and saving your precious jewellery.

Bundle of Silk Threads location

You can buy Silk Threats from the Sanzhana merchant if you pursue their questline (Image credit: Rebel Wolves)

This one is a bit more elaborate to acquire and will cost around 6,000 denari. First off, you'll have to complete the Good Home quest you get on the west side of the Svartrau Outskirts north of the city. This introduces the Sanzhani and starts the Letters to Lunka quest. Continue helping the fairies (follow the linked guide if unsure) until you complete the Pearly and Precious quest, unlocking the Sanzhani trader. You can purchase the Silk Threads from her, though it will cost you.

Flask of Quiksilver location

This item is on the top floor of Aurelius's Tower in the southwest of The Silts region, south of Turtle Rock shrine and then the Aurelius's Tower shrine. You'll have to climb the tower, fight Svetlana, The Dark Prodigy, and then face Aurelius on the top floor, starting the Home Sweet Home quest. I won't spoil it, but the linked guide can help if you get stuck. You'll finish the quest in the tower basement, so head back to the top into Aurelius's study to find the Flask of Quiksilver on a table on the left side of the room.

Moult of a Large Lizard location

This is the easiest of the items to grab. You can find it in a cave on the east side of the Briar Sloughs bog area, directly to the east of the Muddy Trail shrine, and almost directly south from Vera the Witchcraft vendor. You'll have to shimmy through the cave entrance, defeat its four Tatselwurm residents, and then you can grab the Large Lizard's Moult from the back of the cave.

How to craft the Arbiter armour set

Once you have all the components, go to see the Uriash Hermit blacksmith in northwest Briar Sloughs. I'm pretty sure you need to reforge St. Mihai's Silver Sword to get the A Bulwark Against Darkness quest, so you should have already met and worked with her. If, for some reason, you haven't, head through the forest to the Uriashi Hermitage shrine in the northwest of the region.

Each time you give her a component, you'll get a new piece of the Arbiter armour. When the set is fully complete, you'll have to perform a final ritual that involves fighting a bunch of wolves and a ravenous bear boss, but when you've finished, the armour will have been upgraded to legendary rarity and is finally complete.
