Skywind, as we've mentioned a few times previously, is a recreation of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind using the engine that powers the much newer and more visually impressive Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It will also include roughly 300 to 400 hours of voice acting, and the team behind it could use some help getting it all squared away.
Skywind, the pleasing portmanteau of Skyrim and Morrowind continues to look really, really good. Remaking Morrowind in Skyrim’s engine is a mammoth task, and a new development video breaks down the many ways that a legion of volunteer modders, voice actors, and artists are bringing the Elder Scrolls classic into the modern age.
Just in time for the weekend, we’ve got a lovely new Skywind trailer for you. “The Road Most Traveled” is the latest offering from the incredibly ambitious project attempting to recreate all of Morrowind inside the Skyrim engine. This preview features chunks of the road from Seyda Neen, where new characters enter Morrowind, to nearby Balmora, where the first quest is fulfilled.
Sometimes it's difficult to have a surname that can double as an adjective for uncontrollable, mindless violence. Especially when your job is to report on games, which are exceptionally good at making enemies that are characterised by their uncontrollable, mindless violence. The overuse of the word 'savage' in gaming is a completely unwarranted defamation of my ancestors. After all, they were only responsible for around 28% of maulings in the UK's West Midlands area. This article came together by accident. I was fighting through the backlog of games I had on my PC, when I realised that I'd played three amazing fan remakes in a row. Black Mesa, The Dark Mod, and Pioneer were all lined-up beside some of the year's biggest releases, and I barely even took stock of where they came from or how they came to be. They just seemed like great games and I wanted to play them. They are, and they're not alone: the PC's capacity to enable fans to engage with their favourite games in the most direct way possible has given us piles of amazing games to play, and here are ten of my favourites.
