Investigator is a little known atmospheric horror game with a walking-sim feel but excellent visuals.

This game shines in its atmosphere and above average texture work. Overall, textures are finely detailed, and the more urban rust and grime is very realistic.

Best picks for you
  • OceanGate CEO in conversation holding a Logitech gaming controller A cheap SanDisk memory card was just found completely unscathed inside an underwater camera found among OceanGate submersible wreckage
  • In the snowy Alaskan wilderness, the player checks his wristwatch while holding up a hand-drawn map. A spherical drone with a digital face floats in the background. 2 years later than planned, Arctic Awakening arrives to pull the walking simulator out of its Edith Finch-shaped grave
  • Arc Raiders extraction characters Arc Raiders' latest update will finally add the best and most terrifying map condition: 'Prepare yourself for the weekend'

If there is something that sticks out badly, it's the tree branches, especially at the ends. They're poorly made and stand out against the otherwise great textures.

Investigator is sufficiently creepy despite the lack of any real danger. It's more of an exploration game with thick atmosphere and a definite sense of foreboding and trespass. It's absolutely worth the small asking price of $4.

For this gallery I used my own personal ReShade to add some bleakness to its already heavy atmosphere.

Arc Raiders skins: Key art showing three characters. The one on the left is wearing a blue pincho and holding a pistol ready at their hip. The middle figure is wearing a brown poncho and cowboy hat, facing the camera with a pistol across their chest. On the right is another character in a brown poncho and hat but facing away.
