The big reveal at Ubisoft's E3 show was Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. CEO Yves Guillemot announced the game, calling it a showcase for the publisher's Snowdrop engine. Quite a showcase it is, with some beautiful looking environments and lighting as all manner of colourful alien beasts stomp around. The reveal trailer is embedded above.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is set for release on PC sometime in 2022. It'll likely appear around the time of Avatar 2's release on December 16. The movie finished shooting in September last year, a fact which is stored in the same part of the brain that stores snippets of old dreams—every time you remember that James Cameron has made a second Avatar movie, you have to go to Google to make sure.
It's true, though, and the game is also real. Massive Entertainment is developing it, and Ubisoft says it's a first person "action-adventure game."
As the announcement happened, the PC Gamer Slack channel immediately became embroiled in a furious back and forth debate as to who exactly wants an Avatar game in the year of our lord 2022—aside from the accountants involved, obviously. Wes and Rich agreed that they're going to be mad if Ubisoft makes them like Avatar.
Check out a few Frontiers of Pandora screenshots below. For more, check out our recap of the whole Ubisoft conference, as well as our E3 2021 schedule for what to expect as the show goes on.

If it’s set in space, Andy will probably write about it. He loves sci-fi, adventure games, taking screenshots, Twin Peaks, weird sims, Alien: Isolation, and anything with a good story.
