'Tis the season for new game trailers. From Summer Game Fest to the Future Games Show to our (very good-looking and charismatic) PC Gaming Show, this is the time of year to look ahead at some of the games coming in the latter half of the year and around the corner in 2027.

Let's check out some trailers for six games that will all be day-one releases with Xbox Game Pass.

It's almost time to slam our deltoids into cover again with Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago. Gears of War: E-Day is a third-person shooter that takes place 14 years before the original Gears of War, putting you right in the midst of the emergence of the Locust Horde. You can expect more of the same grimy, satisfying gunplay against wave after wave of enemies as you try to stem the tide of brutality created by the invading Grubs.

If you're curious to see what you're in for, Xbox just published a gameplay deep dive. It's coming to Xbox and PC (yes, both) on October 6.

Fable

I bought the OG Xbox from a friend because I wanted to play the first Fable. I still get shivers when I think of the winter lodge Demon Door. The endgame decision connected to the fate of my dog still haunts me. (I maintain that the right decision is also often a decision that causes you personal pain. Don't read too much into that.) Needless to say, this immersive, open-world RPG is one of the games I'm most looking forward to. Fable is a series that has always had more of a sense of humor than other games of its ilk, and with appearances from comedians like Richard Ayoade and Matt King, I expect no different.

Fable drops on February 23, 2027. Get a look at 30 minutes of gameplay and keep up with all the latest with our guide. Maybe this time I'll be able to plant an acorn and watch it grow in real time. The dream will never die.

The game that put Xbox on the map is back and looks better than ever. Dive back into the mechanical boots of Master Chief in a remaster of this hall-of-fame FPS. It's coming out sooner than most of these games, with a release date of July 28, 2026, and you can expect the same smooth gameplay with updated graphics and three new prologue missions. Check out more details with our guide and get ready to fight the Covenant like it's 2001 all over again.

Minecraft by way of Diablo. To all the parents out there wondering how to get their kids into their favorite hack and slash–style game, look no further. The first one was a breezy adventure game, with a four-person multiplayer mode that, as our review said, "makes Minecraft Dungeons a perfect co-op pursuit." The sequel is currently scheduled for this (jam-packed) September. If you've got a kid who might be into this kind of game, hop on Xbox Game Pass now and start playing through the first one so you'll be ready when the latest drops.

State of Decay 3 might be the game on this list that we know the least about, but what can I say? I'm a sucker for this series. Fight off zombies, gather resources, recruit survivors, and build your base. It's a gameplay loop that just hits. This sequel was first announced in 2020, but with an announced release date of 2027, we should know more soon.

Maybe you played through the stealth-action game, A Plague Tale: Innocence, and thought to yourself, "The familial relationship here is really resonant, but where did all of these rats come from?" I can't guarantee the new prequel will answer that question, but you can certainly expect more puzzles and a shift from stealth-based gameplay to a more combat-heavy, action-oriented style. This game comes out soon, August 27, 2026, so get ready to brawl through the streets of Minotaur Island before you know it.

All games shown are coming in the future. For release details see here.
