Engines and explosions will still pack a punch, but they probably won’t completely overwhelm everything else in the mix.
The same idea applies to movies and shows, and of course, for music, too. Neutral tuning isn’t specifically better for gaming; it’s just more true to what the developers actually intended. In other words, the headphones don’t alter the sound by adding any of their own “seasoning.”
Three sound profiles make the HP-1 much more flexible

Kali designed this feature so mixers can quickly check how their work translates across different headphone styles. From a gamer’s perspective, you can play around with all three flavors of sound, and pick your poison.
The HP-1 works just as well away from your desk
This is where the HP-1 starts to feel more like an everyday set of premium headphones. Clearly, it’s not just traditional studio equipment.
At your desk, you can plug it in over 3.5 mm and keep things simple. Away from it, Bluetooth with AAC and SBC support lets you connect to a laptop, tablet, or phone, while letting you move around without being tethered by a cable. Built-in playback controls and a microphone handle music, videos, and wireless calls without having to swap over to a different headset.
Active noise cancelling adds another useful benefit (and one we’ve come to expect from premium headsets nowadays!) when you’re gaming or listening in a loud room or while traveling. Kali does advise against enabling ANC while mixing, though, so it’s best to treat it as a convenience rather than something that’s a part of your critical-listening workflows.
Thanks to its foldable design and included carrying case, the HP-1 is easy to take with you wherever you go, too. Kali lists DSP latency at 17 ms, so this isn’t quite a “zero-latency” gaming headset; rather, it’s a studio-focused headphone that also happens to travel well.
Can the HP-1 really last through multiple gaming sessions?
With more than 40 hours of battery life, the HP-1 can comfortably get through several long gaming or listening sessions before it needs a recharge.
This endurance pairs well with its lightweight, around-ear design. The headphones weigh around 150 g, and the earcups fully enclose your ear instead of pressing up against them. This makes a real difference for long-session comfort: unlike with some less-comfortable models, your ears won’t need a respite midway through a raid or an evening grinding out some quests in an RPG.
The earpads are replaceable, too, which extends the HP-1’s useful life over time; worn earpads won’t mean that you need an entirely new headset.
In practice, this means you won’t have to spend as much time looking for your charger, and can spend more time actually using your HP-1. More often than not, you’ll probably run out of steam before your headphones do.
