Running your own store is just the tip of the iceberg in Saleblazers
You know what this fantasy island could use? Commerce.
I can't speak for anyone else, but when I was a kid, one of the things I was most interested in seeing in videogames was the mix of high adventure and normalcy. Picture it: You're a mage wandering a fantastical island, trying to avoid roving groups of bandits, all the while you're gathering resources to craft into items you'd sell at a shop.
Saleblazers delivers just that in its multiplayer open-world. You play as one of three varied classes and meet dynamic, voiced NPCs, all while custom-designing your perfect store. This early-access game has just released its biggest update yet. The Immersive Update pushes your abilities to their limits, driving you to find new ways to keep your head about you in this dangerous world.
What is Saleblazers? Is it a survival game? Is it a sim? Is it an adventure game? It's all of the above, really, and this new update deepens each aspect. NPCs are more fully fleshed out, with behavior that's reactive. The Kazai Village border police are a good example. They'll investigate suspicious activity and require you to present valid identification to enter town. Go on a killing spree on the outskirts of town? Other wanderers might find the (newly persistent) bodies and report it to the cops. If they figure out it's you, the police will handcuff you and haul you off to jail.
On the friendlier side, the NPCs are now voiced, so you can expect greetings from your shoppers and folks calling out when you're exploring the world. With the new random daily event system, you can expect some unusual behavior from your clientele. At the end of the day, the people who populate a world make it feel full. These upgrades to the NPCs make it feel more like your surroundings are reacting to your presence and watching your every move.
There are technical updates that weave throughout this update to make the whole game feel more fully realized. The sights and sounds have received an overhaul, with improved water and vegetation creating a richer atmosphere, and the cleaner UI inviting new players in.
As you stock your store, you'll hear the gentle clunk of the items on the shelves. Thanks to the upgraded physics, items will move with weight and truly take up space. Seeing your store fill with physical items helps you settle into the meditative rhythm that brings folks back to cozy games.
Saleblazers is far from cozy, though. The combat is more physical and expressive. If you're playing as a knight, you can slam into an enemy and send them flying. A gunslinger can shoot them in the leg to take them down from a distance. If you're playing as a mage and folks are getting rowdy in your store, you can use your Water Bubble spell to clean up the mess and toss the offenders out as ragdolls, tumbling over themselves.
Finally, one of the biggest upgrades is to the characters themselves. You'll be able to invest in classic stats like endurance, dexterity, and strength. You can also find and craft items that accentuate these skills, with customers paying top dollar for high stat-boost gear.
Saleblazers does a little bit of everything and creates a world you can truly immerse yourself in, offering shared social moments with friends in the safety of your store and exciting chaos when you're outside of it. Explore handcrafted villages, a deep narrative campaign, and exciting combat. Get your self-checkout ready, you've got exploring to do.
