I can relate to the explorers in Core Keeper, because if I found an ancient, glowing orb, I know without a shadow of a doubt that I'd touch it, consequences be damned. Seems a lot of you feel the same way, because years after its early access release, Core Keeper is still going strong. We've just premiered a trailer for its new Riders of the Underground update, launching tomorrow, and it's a corker.
The main addition, as the name of the update suggests, is rideable mounts. Every type of cattle can now be ridden into the depths. All you have to do is grab a saddle, a new item, and approach your desired mount. Once you've tamed your ride, you can change its name and decide on its behaviour—will it stay in place, follow you around, or roam aimlessly? You decide.

Core Keeper's Riders of the Underground update launches tomorrow, adding rideable mounts, a new sub-biome, and a trio of terrifying hydras to the game. There's also a mysterious door with tantalising secrets hidden behind it. Download the update from Steam tomorrow.
But where will you ride your mounts to? Well, the new Moss sub-biome, of course. This place has lush greenery and no predators, so it's a good place to sit back and unwind. You can go in there and nab an Orex, a dinosaur-like mount which looks dangerous but is a big softie at heart.
We do see some pretty vicious looking monsters in the trailer, though. A trio of snake-esque creatures burst through the sand and let out a loud screech. I don't want to have to tussle with them. A mysterious set of doors also opens up at the end of a dark cavern. I'm not sure what mysteries await within, but I wanna find out.
We won't have long to wait, because the Core Keeper update goes live tomorrow, September 21. So, now is the perfect time to dive back into the game, or grab it from Steam if you've not played it yet.
