Don't miss these
Kliff, from Crimson Desert, stares longingly into a fire.
Action After 6 hours, Crimson Desert is one of the most overwhelming, chaotic, madcap videogames I've ever played—and I'm hungry for more
The player squares off against a skeleton warrior in a ruined stone fortress.
FPS Elder Scrolls wannabe Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon gets a 'huge' update overhauling its weaker third act with new locations, quests, enemies and more
The Crimson Desert main character wearing fur armor while talking to other nearby warriors out in a field.
Games Upcoming 2026 games: All the new PC games you won't want to miss, from big hits to hidden gems
Dylan fighting enemies with a huge hammer in Control Resonant.
RPG Control Resonant is far more of an RPG than I expected, complete with talent trees, stats screens, and build-crafting that wouldn't feel out of place in a Diablo game
A warlock stands in the middle of standing stones as they're hit by lightning
RPG Why I love Diablo 2, Act 1
Crimson Desert's player character clashes swords with an enemy.
MMO Everything we know about Crimson Desert
1348 Ex Voto screenshot showing Aeta fighting enemies in medieval Italy with a longsword.
Action After playing the free demo of this bloody medieval carve-'em-up, I'm praying the devs deliver a holy gaming experience
Doom: The Dark Ages, a game by id Software, image showing the Doom Slayer.
FPS Doom: The Dark Ages director says the upcoming DLC is 'basically like a sequel': 'It's just ginormous'
Mio Amakura from Fatal Frame 2 remake with the camera zooming in on her face as she looks surprised
Horror Fatal Frame 2 is one of the scariest horror games I've played, and it sounds like the remake is tweaking all the right things
Divinity reveal trailer
RPG Divinity: everything we know about Larian's 'most ambitious RPG yet'
The protagonist of Nioh 3 looking out at the landscape, where on a mountain a red beam is shooting into the sky.
Action Nioh 3 review: This samurai soulslike epic is a serious contender to Elden Ring
The Hero King, a massive avian warrior, cleaves through enemy soldiers in Project Windless.
Action Project Windless creative director says the developers chose a 9-foot warlike rooster goliath as their protagonist because literally 'every candidate' interviewed to work on the game wanted to play as one: 'All of them—and we were like, OK'
Esoteric Ebb helmeted medieval cleric reading book next to open window with city below
RPG The upcoming Disco Elysium for D&D nerds just dropped a 90-minute supercut of its weirdly beautiful soundtrack
Close up of caucasian face with headband and blue eyes, pixellated
RPG I've already put 10 hours into this upcoming RPG's demo because it has the best combat I've seen outside a FromSoft game
Close up of caucasian face with headband and blue eyes, pixellated
RPG 'We lost things such as physics in games:' The dev behind my most anticipated RPG thinks players are craving more interactive games, not just 'moving around in a static 3D environment'

Tom Sykes

Tom loves exploring in games, whether it’s going the wrong way in a platformer or burgling an apartment in Deus Ex. His favourite game worlds—Stalker, Dark Souls, Thief—have an atmosphere you could wallop with a blackjack. He enjoys horror, adventure, puzzle games and RPGs, and played the Japanese version of Final Fantasy VIII with a translated script he printed off from the internet. Tom has been writing about free games for PC Gamer since 2012. If he were packing for a desert island, he’d take his giant Columbo boxset and a laptop stuffed with PuzzleScript games.
