With some sadness and a whole lotta pride, the time has come for this magazine legend to call it a day.

The final issue of PC PowerPlay magazine is onsale now.

When PC PowerPlay launched way back in 1996, Australians had their gaming goodness served only by (also legendary) multi-platform mag Hyper. PC gaming was about to explode in popularity and creative and technical evolution, and the time was right for a proper dedicated PC gaming mag. PC PowerPlay was born, and it was a smash hit, immediately exceeding copy sales expectations as Aussies found a voice and passion that matched their own.

After such a mighty and glorious run the time has come for PCPP to bid farewell, and rejoice in all it has achieved. In this last issue we take the time to recognise the impact PCPP had on the scene from the very beginning, with fond memories to treasure and proud moments to remember forever.

We know what an impact we made upon the great many Aussie PC gamers that loved this beautiful magazine. Thank you for being with us all these years, dear readers. You may have been a loyal subscriber, or just bought the occasional copy, but you were all dear to us and part of one great big family. You kept us going so long and we are honoured to have been able to do this for almost 30 years.

Farewell to PCPP – the end of an era

Ben thinks he’s probably the most experienced PC gaming editor and writer in Australia. After working on the legendary Hyper magazine in the early 1990s, he founded the even-more-legendary PC PowerPlay mag in 1995, and remained as editor for the first five years during that period of explosive PC gaming evolution. After that he founded Atomic magazine in 2000, shifting his focus a bit more towards PC gaming hardware. After a few years as Atomic editor, Ben took over PC Authority magazine, and is now the editor of APC. He likes 48-hour Sins of a Solar Empire binges when he’s not sitting in his sim racing rig manhandling his precious German equipment.
