A new game in The Division series just shadowdropped on PC, and it's free
Resurgence was meant to be a mobile exclusive, but here we are.
The Division Resurgence is a free-to-play mobile take on more-ish third-person shooter The Division. Announced in 2022, it finally hit iOS and Android on March 31. Now, with very little fanfare or prior warning, The Division Resurgence has launched for PC.
The quiet release could have something to do with it being in early access: according to Ubisoft the present PC release is "for technical testing ahead of its official launch in August". That's good for people who don't want to play the game on mobile, but it's surprising that the PC release is coming out at all: there's been no hint that it would, prior to its sudden appearance today.
Indeed, Ubisoft writes repeatedly in the game's "manifesto" about its mobile-only nature: "Our objective in bringing the Division universe to mobile, is to enable more people worldwide to enjoy this open world experience whenever and wherever they want," reads part of the spiel.

Reviews haven't been super positive but nor are they damning: The Sixth Axis admired Resurgence's "well-rounded set of modes" and noted that "the tactical looter shooter grind is still pretty fun", but disliked its menus, "clunky" gamepad controls and bugs.
By dint of it being a mobile port, the recommended PC specs for the Division Resurgence aren't too steep:
