The best art is all about descending into someone's twisted psyche. It doesn't matter who, but the deeper we get into their very being, the better. Now buckle up and prepare for Wane, a roguelike where you quite literally navigate through the deconstructed mind of Declan Wayne, a fading archaeologist.
We just revealed the game at the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, and it looks like a corker—for any non-Brits, that means it looks really good. "I used to believe that memory makes a man," says Wayne as he narrates over the gorgeous trailer. "Now I know, it can unmake one, too."

This is the world premiere of Wane, a tactical roguelike where you descend into the depths of a man's memories. It's gorgeous, brutal, and has a demo coming out next year. Wishlist it on Steam.
That line and the art style were already enough to get me excited for Wane, but then the brass instrumental music swelled and instantly shot this game to the top of my wishlist. It oozes style, and the combat looks pretty hardcore, too.
We see one guy simply do finger guns and magically shoot someone from across the room, and then a woman with a hammer bigger than herself leaps over a railing and does a cinematic slam attack, complete with impact frames. It looks awesome.
These are just two of the six adventurers you can use to form a party of three who must venture into Ravelle, a map of Declan's mind. Each biome is a different section of his psyche, so expect to face off against all of his demons.
This is a roguelike, so expect to die. Between runs, you'll return to Declan's shop, sell goods, and prepare for the next expedition into his mind. You'll probably learn why he's going to all this effort, too.
Wane is being developed by Metis Creative, a tabletop publisher and now videogame studio, too. The trailer reveals little about the world of Wane, but given the history of the devs and the stunning art style already shown, it's a world I already can't wait to learn more about.
There's no release date for the game just yet, but there is a demo coming in 2027. For now you can wishlist Wane on Steam.
