Intel's 12th-gen laptop CPUs usher in a new gaming era

The 12th Gen Intel® Core™ H-Series laptops have arrived, to do what Intel has been doing for decades now: shake up the world of computing and push the limits of what you can do with a gaming laptop. These are truly built for the next generation of gaming.

Yes, the i9-12900HK has 6 Performance Cores and 8 Efficiency Cores in total. For the uninitiated, Performance Cores are physically bigger and optimised for single-threaded performance, while the smaller Efficiency Cores focus on multi-core performance, and are designed for handling a huge number of background processes. Thanks to the trailblazing technology, you can expect an average of 40%* better speed as compared to the previous generation.

The Intel® Core™  i9-12900HK has you covered for high-end gaming, but that can slightly be an overkill for those who don't need to max out frame rates while leaving a ton of browser tabs open (it's OK, we all do it). That's where the variants of 12th-Gen Intel® Core™ i5 and i7 come in. The i7-12800H, for instance, has the same 14-core distribution as the i9, just with 4.8GHz max clock speeds. The i5-12600H, meanwhile, has 4 Performance Cores and 8 Efficiency Cores, clocking up to 4.5GHz – more than enough to smoothly see you through everyday tasks, video production and gaming.
