STAR WARS Zero Company's character specializations let you control the battlefield
Lead your squad to victory
When you're fighting for your survival, every tool matters. In Star Wars Zero Company, you'll deploy some of the most elite operators in the galaxy, and figuring out how to properly utilize their specializations will mean the difference between a simple victory and a permadeath-laden loss.
Whether you're commanding a crew of custom operators or using Bit Reactor's cast of characters, you'll have a blast finding the perfect synergy of talents to sail through a battle and get everyone back to The Den in one piece. Read up on the core specializations and why they're vital to your survival, and then take our quiz below to see which specialization you'd use as a member of Zero Company.
Assault
Your all-purpose frontline fighter, the Assault operator constantly moves around the battlefield, working to break enemies' cover and take them down. Every specialization includes three abilities: an ultimate, a standard, and a passive. The Assault's ultimate is called Sweeping Salvo, a devastating maneuver that impacts a cone of enemies, damaging and disorienting them. Operators such as Jae Mordant can put your opponents down with ease.
Gunslinger
Gunslingers are built to hit fast across multiple targets, dealing the ending blow to mobs already weakened by other characters or setting the table for the rest of the team. Their standard ability, Quick Draw, lets you put the finishing touches on enemies while maintaining action points for the rest of your turn.
Heavy
Every team needs a tank, and that's what the Heavy is for. These armored-up combatants are tough enough to withstand the damage and keep the fire off the rest of the team. Surviving is their speciality. One of their abilities, Bulwark, draws attacks from nearby enemies in the field. Combine that with the Heavy's ultimate ability, Unstoppable, and they will effortlessly counter enemy shots.
Medic
Permadeath is a real consequence in this game, and a Medic keeps everyone on their feet and fighting. Healing isn't their only bonus, though. Abilities like Morale Boost can increase other operators' damage and health, putting you in a position to finish fights faster.
Scoundrel
There are times in a battle when you don't have much to work with, and that's when the Scoundrel shines. Operators such as Kabbney Uppercut are wildcards who don't have any interest in playing fair. Their passive ability increases the damage they do when assisting other operators, and their ultimate ability puts that additional damage to good use, letting them mark an enemy to assist. That's a great way to put down a big boss. Stylish vest not required, but encouraged.
Scout
Sun Tzu wrote, "The terrain leads to measurements; The measurements lead to estimates; The estimates lead to calculations; The calculations lead to weighing the options; The weighing leads to victory." This is, like, the Scout's whole deal. They're trained in recon tactics, putting you in the perfect position to ambush your opponents. In the right moments, this can be a devastating blow that turns the tide of battle or ends it outright.
Sharpshooter
You don't have to be in the scrum to make a difference. The Umbaran Luco Bronc will sit back in cover, picking off enemies the second they show weakness. When you absolutely, positively have to hit someone, their ultimate ability, Precision Shot, does just that, taking out a baddie who is about to deal one of your team members a killing blow.
Soldier
A soldier uses every tool at their disposal, be it melee, grenades, their blaster, or even a rocket strike that damages multiple enemies. Trick, your clone commando buddy, starts with this specialization. They aren't interested in being fancy, just in getting the job done.
These aren't the only specializations you'll find in Zero Company. You'll get access to astromech droids, a Jedi Padawan, and a Mandalorian warrior, among others. All of these will help you command the battlefield and get credits in your bank account. Star Wars: Zero Company is out August 27 at $49.99 (PC) or $59.99 (console) for the standard game and $59.99 (PC) or $69.99 (console) for the deluxe edition.
