Every game at E3 2016 and its PC outlook

It’s Mad Max meets Machinarium, roughly: a charming quaintness that seems strangely at home in what’s clearly a post-apocalypse. You’re an unexplained, boxy figure operating a Sandcrawler-shaped wreck from a 2D, cross-section perspective on a road trip toward an unknown destination. You tap different buttons to operate corresponding controls: lights, throttle, brake, doors, elevator, fire control systems, and more to keep moving. The first 10 minutes or so we played were pretty relaxing: a mix of puzzles and silent storytelling as you feed more fuel into your machine.

Day of Infamy

July 2016

Originally a mod for Insurgency, Day of Infamy is going standalone. It’s a World War 2 version of the same idea: hardcore, squad-based combat. We have a bit of hands-on experience with it, and we like what we’ve played, seen, and heard so far—especially the good old ping of an M1 Garand.

ABZÛ

August 2, 2016

Underwater adventure ABZÛ looks extremely serene and relaxing (unless you suffer from thalassophobia, perhaps), with a dreamlike expression of swarming fish schools and great kelp forests to dive into. It shares its art director and composer with PS4 exclusive Journey, and we’re glad we’ll get to appreciate their work on PC. It’s one we’re looking forward to more than most.

State of Mind

2017

The transhumanist adventure game from Daedalic Entertainment takes place in two places at once: the futuristic dystopia of Berlin in the year 2048, and the virtual world of City 5 that people have been fleeing to after digitizing their brains. We got a look at some screenshots ahead of the E3 announcement and we’re digging the art style which combines realistic environments with low-poly characters. It’s got a sharp teaser as well.

State of Decay 2

Coming to PC? Yes
When’s it out?
2017

The sequel to 2013’s open world third-person zombie survival game has been announced, and going by the trailer it’s got improved visuals, more robust base-building, and drop-in co-op play. Zombies, too. It has plenty of those. No word yet if it’ll shamble in the footsteps of the original and spend some time in Early Access, or if it will be released as a full game.

Obduction

Coming to PC? Yes
When’s it out?
July 26, 2016

A first-person puzzle game from Cyan Worlds and Rand Miller, creator of Myst. Obduction is essentially a spiritual successor to Myst, but made in a more modern way (on Unreal Engine 4) and with the lessons learned from the previous games. You appear in a mysterious world with no explanation, and have to solve environmental puzzles to learn more about your surroundings.
