Ready for some spooky Fortnite Fortnitemares 2020 challenges? Fortnitemares is one of Fortnite's most popular events each year, and for good reason. It's the community's chance to celebrate the best of Halloween season with new skins, fun challenges and new modes, and occasionally some significant changes to the Fortnite map. This time around, the big event is Midas' Revenge, a spooky remix of battle royale that lets players literally come back from the dead. There are also new items to mix up standard gameplay, like a pumpkin-ized rocket launcher and a full-on witch broom. Throw in a concert by J Balvin on Halloween night and we've got a pretty fun time on our hands.

I'm just as excited as you are, so I've been digging through the spookiest corners of the internet and the world of battle royale to break down everything you need to know about Fortnitemares 2020.

Fortnite Fortnitemares 2020 release date: When does it start?

Fortnitemares 2020: Midas' Revenge is running right now, from October 21 to November 3.

The LTM for Fortnitemares 2020 is Midas' Revenge, a twist on the normal battle royale mode that lets players come back from the dead as a Shadow. Shadows have different abilities than normal players and don't appear to use weapons, though they can drive vehicles.

If the premise sounds a bit familiar, that's because it's nearly the same idea as Call of Duty: Warzone's limited-time Zombie Royale event that kicked off the same week. Seems like Infinity Ward and Epic had similar ideas about how to spend the Halloween season.

Four-time Grammy winner J Balvin is throwing a live concert on Halloween night called the Afterlife Party. The show kicks off on October 31 at 6PM PST/9PM EST. If you're too busy with Halloween fun that night, the show will be rebroadcasted twice in-game the following day, November 1, at 10AM and 3PM PST.

Fortnite Fortnitemares 2020 skins: Party Troopers and more

The big new outfit for Fortnitemares 2020 is the Party Trooper, a neon soldier look with an unlockable variant. Those who attend the Halloween night J Balvin concert in the Party Trooper outfit will unlock a variant styled after the four-time Grammy winner.

Players will also have a chance to unlock a new weapon skin through Creative mode. Throughout Fortnitemares, new event-themed islands with hidden pieces of code will be open to explore. The first island is available starting October 21. Collect all 20 pieces of code and unlock the Wrath's Wrap weapon skin, seen below.

Additionally, Epic is re-releasing older Fortnitemares skins in the item shop, like the Big Mouth and Teef skins. As of October 14, Epic has released the Ultimate Reckoning pack, which comes with three Halloween-appropriate skins and back bling. It'll cost you 2,000 V-bucks, but each skin is spoooooky. I particularly like the Grave outfit's bandolier of orange flowers and a Dia de Los Muertos mask. A lot of folks on social media seem to dig the black and white Gnash outfit, which gives off big Beetlejuice-meets-the-Crow vibes.

There's also the Goth Legends pack, which will hit the item shop at a later date.

We do have two relatively new skins that could be considered part of the spooky season, though.

The City Center Set is an appropriately pumpkin-spicey look, featuring a festively orange sweater, beanie, and jacket. You can also get an orange pickaxe and backpack.

The Victoria Saint skin was also previously featured, and I'm sure we'll see it again. It's got a great vampire hunter vibe, which fits right alongside Marvel's Blade, which debuts this season.

Fortnite Fortnitemares 2020 challenges: What you can unlock

Fortnitemares 2020 is coming with a few new goodies that you can try out in the world, including a flying broom?

  • Pumpkin Rocket Launcher
  • Fiend Hunter Crossbow
  • Witch Broom
  • Candy buckets

The clear standout here is the Witch Broom. Fortnite has had flying before with its planes (and helicopters right now), but a witch broom could give players a new level of mobility. That is, if the broom is free-flying.

That's all we know about Fortnitemares, but that's not all we have for you: We've also put together our favorite Fortnite horror map codes from Creative mode. These are the spookiest adventures we've managed to find if you're looking for something off the beaten path.
