Default Looking for a very movie like story driven game...

i'm really after an epic story line that leaves your mouth open a few times, would be amazing if it was a james bond type story or even a vengeance or bad guy type story. just as long is it grips you through out. im pretty sure it doesn't exist or have played it already.
love isometric games but keeping my options open on style just to get a good story. its been ages since a game took over my life (that hasnt been a Civ game or Football Manager)...

Alan Wake is a good one. It's not about secret spies or any of that kind of thing but it's a brilliant story-driven game.

What you want is Alpha Protocol. That game is one underrated gem. Excellent story and superb gameplay.

it's a shame the last of us (or the other naughty dog games) aren't on PC as it fits the "movie type game" category.

If you havn't already, Mass Effect. Yeh the final ending is a bit anticlimatic, but the journey to it is amazing with some fantastic twists and turns.
Also, Walking Dead. Not much of a game, but amazing story.

If you haven't played it Deus Ex Human Revolution would fit the bill in my opinion.

Tomb Raider...Doubt any plot twists will leave your jaw dropped, but the cut scenes are frequent and gorgeous.

Metro:Last Light....Far from a James Bond type story but will leave your jaw on the ground....Some crazy scenes in that one. Also a very pretty game.

Mass Effects will do it(as said by Jack Rabbit). Going through the series now starting with one and forgetting how good the game actually is. ME: 1 still looks amazing with a texture mod and some added super-sampling.

Yep mass effect was one of those games that made me feel like a true hero and felt like the hard fought battle was well deserved and the ending was great. At least ME1 and to a lesser extent ME2 did anyway.

ME3 was ending was ok. anti climatic for what was the greatest battle in the universe and history.

I would recommend Tomb Rider or Mafia II, but in truth neither are "epic". Very good games, very good story and excellent acting, but that's about it.

I'd say Spec Ops: The Line.

Very much underrated in my view, it's essentially Apocalypse Now but in Dubai. Has good voice acting, lots of cutscenes, and most gameplay is pretty undemanding at easier settings (so you can focus on the story).

Otherwise I'd second Alpha Protocol, great game.
