    Default Minecart Mania or Traincarts

    For the last few months we have runned both MCmania and Traincart plugin, this will no longer be the case after next update. The reason for this, while it seems to be running all fine it does have some conflicts running both. So we have to pick which one we will use in the future.

    So what is the difference between these plugins?

    Traincarts:
    The good:
    -Linked carts, this plugin makes carts link together in a long train if you will.
    -Does most of the things Minecart Mania does, except automated farming. What it does it does better/smarter than Minecart Mania
    -Better routing system for advanced complex train systems.
    -Better supported plugin by the developer
    The bad:
    -Very limited automated farming

    Minecart Mania:
    The Good:
    -Most of you know this better than Traincarts
    -Automated Farming
    The Bad:
    -Little support(fewer/slower updates)
    -Isn't being worked on by the original developer.

    This is not a poll, this is just a discussion thread on what we should do. What the possibilities are between the plugin, and also what ideas you have for these plugins.

    Personally I prefer traincart, cause the train system i plan is just way more difficult with Minecart Mania.

    Red face Hmm

    I use them both. If I had to pick. I would go with keeping the auto harvesting. That's just a personal preference though. Not having them both kills auto farming on a large scale but it was fun while it lasted.

    Traincarts for me, I have already started building a rail system and like the way traincarts works. Plus the fact that Minecart Mani is no longer supported makes me feel like we should just let it fade into memory.

    I wish I had seen this thread earlier, but I didn't. I really like the auto harvesting, its pretty much all I do on the server. I was in the middle of creating a new method of mass harvesting sugar cane when MC mania was turned off, and I thought that that was pretty uncool. I put a lot of work into that farm, and now its broken. I have earlier, piston-based levels of my farm as well, but they are not nearly as efficient or fun/challenging to build. I feel that the extensive warp system makes train travel obsolete anyway.

    What was the nature of the conflicts that made the two plugins mutually exclusive?

    It made carts run forever even when there's no tracks, there may be some other bugs to related to it as both plugins try to manipulate how carts and tracks should work.

    We suspect one cart manage to run off world and generate chunks WAY outside borders.

    Just a side note
    We have neither traincarts nor mc mania right now, as traincarts is not ready for 1.3 yet.

    I personally don't use either but I think a big chunk of the server uses/ relies on automated farming...
