Default The Trench 1916

I noticed in a couple of threads where people have mentioned the lack of any WW1 shooters... well, I when hunting around and I found one indie WW1 shooter in development called "The Trench 1916." Looks pretty cool:

it looks pretty good and the gameplay sounds quite innovative, I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

I'd really like to see a WW1 game that captures the true horrors of trench warfare.

Website blocked at work (stupid filters), but I intend to look into this one tonight. Beyond the few aerial sims I can't think of many WWI games. There is also Entente, but it is a strategy game and I can't attest to the quality of it as I haven't played it.

There are very few WW1 games, and those very few are not very good.

Red Baron series is my favourite WW1 franchise, but that ended long ago.

There is a source engine ww1 mod called WW1 Source. I tried playing it and I really liked it, but there were no servers or people playing...

Also, Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad will have a WW1 mod called Iron Europe, which should be released soon after HOS is out.

I've been playing this flash game here - http://armorgames.com/play/2267/warfare-1917 - Warfare 1917. For a flash game it does a great job of using a TBS/RTS mechanic for trench warfare.

There is another game I played 3 years ago that has a awesome RTS top down view of WWI with trench warfare but the name eludes me and I did not favorite it.

Looks interesting. I like the idea of spending the first part of the game preparing for the German attack. I'm hoping it'll be flexable enough to allow you to try some unusual stratagies.
