Default Before I spend $500...

Is this the best option for a 2560x1440 monitor for performance/price http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009C3M7H0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1YUP 4GA0K811C&coliid=I3E45W8DBJ3E7G

Cant say since I've never used it but Asus makes some pretty decent monitors. I'd do a little more research but odds are that's a good monitor. If you have a Frys or Microcenter near you, it would be a good idea to go check out what they've got set up for demo.

I'm going to assume that you use it for gaming rather than photo editing. Because of this, I will suggest the new Dell P2714H instead because it is faster and has much lower input lag. This will be very helpful in games, especially in twitch shooters.

Yeah mostly gaming, websurfing, school stuff and I want something in the 2560x1440 category since I'll be running a classified gtx 780. I feel like it would be a waste to use 1080, and I want to play stuff like battlefield 4, maybe crysis, skyrim so I think I want something that will produce better graphics and I dont really play many twitch games like counter strike. I will probably sli classified 780's next year as well. I wish they were cheaper but I guess that's the price to pay for 1440 without going Korean.

Don't you guys think if I'm getting the classified 780 and I plan on sli them that the 1440p monitor is a better choice?

Yes. That much GPU horsepower would be a waste at 1080. If you've got that much GPU, you should get 1440 and take advantage. 1080 looks fine on 27" screens but it isn't "ideal". For movies there isn't a difference but for games there is especially with the details cranked up. You could even go for a 30" 2560x1600 monitor but you're not gonna find one of those for $500. My dream system includes a HP or Dell 30" 1600 screen. Multiple monitors are cool and all that but I still think I prefer a big ass single screen instead.

Oh right, I forgot the Dell is 1080p. I mean the HP ZR2740W instead with nearly 10ms less input lag.

Yeah I completely agree bud, welp you guys convinced me I'm gonna buy the Asus PB278Q monitor and the HP one looks good but it has a lot slower response time, the Asus is 5 ms (gray-to-gray) and the HP is 14 ms (On/Off); 12 ms (gray-to-gray). Wouldn't the Asus be better for gaming?
