Whatever type of PC gamer you are, you’ll want a graphics card that suits your demanding performance requirements, is built to last, and looks great. However, not all graphics cards are created equal, and the choice can be bewildering. The good news is that Gigabyte has you covered with its range of AMD-powered cards that suit everyone from elite enthusiasts that need to squeeze every ounce of performance out of their purchase, to demanding gamers that seek the best bang for their buck.
With gamer-focussed, top-tier features that are shared across the entire range and details like the usage of server-grade thermal paste, you need to check-out these cards and discover which best suits your needs. Here’s what you need to know...
Aorus Radeon RX 9070 XT Elite 16G
At the top of the pile is the Aorus Radeon RX 9070 XT Elite 16G. The core specs are in the title – there’s an AMD 9070 XT GPU; it’s ‘OC’ overclocked; and the 16G denotes the generous 16GB of 256-bit GDDR6 RAM – but there’s much, much more and almost all of the following core features are shared throughout Gigabyte’s entire line.
Particularly noteworthy is Gigabyte’s bespoke, Windforce Cooling System. This multi-faceted technology uses three, specially designed, alternate-spinning, ‘Hawk fans’ to maximise the volume of airflow across composite-copper heat pipes, an extended ‘screen-cooled’ heatsink and the large vapour chamber that’s seated using server-grade thermal paste, to maximise heat removal. The compound is also used on the VRAM, MOSFETs and all critical components and is much more durable than traditional thermal pads and paste which can’t resist deformation, or cover uneven surfaces, nearly as well.
The Hawk fans themselves have been modelled on an eagle’s wing, not just to maximise thermal performance but reduce noise levels. They’re responsible for more than doubling air pressure and creating a 12.5% increase in air volume displacement without impacting acoustics. They also make use of a special graphene-based nano lubricant that can extend the lifespan of the bearings by a factor of 2.1x (while further-reducing noise). On top of all this, Gigabyte’s ‘3D Active’ technology can turn them off completely when not needed, allowing for totally silent, passive cooling.
Also present is Gigabyte’s RGB ‘Halo’ lighting technology to not only contrast with the chassis’ matte finish for even-more-awesome looks, but also dynamically display performance changes through transitioning colourways. Meanwhile, the Aorus logo uses a synchronised matching-colour technology with added, multi-layer gradient effect as a pleasing design flourish. Everything can be customised in the Gigabyte Control Center app.
In short, it looks great, runs quiet and performs brilliantly.
Ultra durable and ultra performance
Naturally a large, premium graphics card needs serious consideration paid to practicalities like PC case installation and Gigabyte, once again, has you covered. The overall structure, with reinforced metal backplate (which has a special, bent edge) is securely fastened to both the I/O bracket (at the front) and adjustable VGA bracket (at the rear) for top-notch structural integrity.
Other features include a Dual BIOS switch to force silent running when needed, and a power indicator LED to let you instantly identify when the connectors are plugged in properly. Gigabyte’s premium motherboard legacy means it also includes its ‘Ultra Durable’ technologies including the usage of premium components, high copper content and resilient PCB coatings (to resist Dust, Humidity and Corrosion).
It all amounts to a robust graphics card that, at standard settings, pushes the Boost Clock to 3,100MHz (up from 2,970MHz) and the Game Clock to 2,570MHz (up from 2,400MHz) – but those demanding ultimate performance can confidently overclock it to much higher degrees. Gigabyte is so confident in its build quality that it even offers a four-year warranty!
Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC 16G
Naturally, not everyone needs a super-premium thoroughbred that can be pushed to insane extremes and so, for those who are slightly less inclined to tweak, the next port of call should be the Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC 16G and the Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC Ice 16G.
These sport all of the features of their Elite sibling but also have a unique textured finish to the chassis, a unique, sliding, RGB side-plate for customisation and a variant that’s dressed in a special, ‘Ice’ colourway.
They too come factory overclocked with a Boost Clock of 3,060MHz, and the Game Clock of 2,520MHz. For demanding gamers, these are a fantastic choice.
Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 Gaming OC 16G
If you want to save money without significantly compromising performance, there’s the Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 Gaming OC 16G, which has 16GB of 128-bit GDDR6 RAM but otherwise shares all of its features with its XT counterpart. Once again this Gigabyte card comes factory overclocked, with a boost of 2,700 MHz, which is a nice jump over the reference speed of 2,520MHz, and a Game Clock of 2,210 MHz (the AMD reference card runs at 2,070 MHz).
Gigabyte Radeon RX 9060 XT Gaming OC 16G
Gigabyte doesn’t skimp on those who want to drop down to the 9060 XT range. The Gigabyte Radeon RX 9060 XT Gaming OC 16G sports the same features as the 9070, is available with an Ice colourway (called the Gigabyte Radeon RX 9060 XT Gaming OC Ice 16G) and comes factory overclocked with the Boost Clock set to 3,320MHz (up from 3,130MHz) and the Game Clock set to 2,780MHz (up from 2,530MHz).
