Epic Games has posted the first teaser for Fortnite season 7, and it looks like it's going to be a chilly one.
A bitter ice spreads... 3 days to Season 7. pic.twitter.com/yj70svBXtiDecember 3, 2018
Three days takes us to, let's see, December 4, 5, 6! Which also happens to be the date of the The Game Awards. Gee, I wonder if that's just a coincidence?
Thursday during #TheGameAwards don't miss a @fortnitegame announcement and world premiere from Epic's @DonaldMustard, streaming live at 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT everywhere. And oh yeah, keep your game close. #WorldsWillChange pic.twitter.com/hh7VQNpLD1December 3, 2018
No, of course not. There will be all sorts of announcements taking place at The Game Awards, so it makes perfect sense that Epic would use it to kick off a new season of Fortnite.
Sorry, what?
I can't stress enough how much we have going on this week. Geoff isn't talking about Season 7 launch here. Tune in! https://t.co/K2gwZoizqaDecember 3, 2018
This is a lot more complicated than I expected.
We already have a pretty good idea about what's coming in Fortnite season 7, which is to say that James has whipped up a messy conspiracy corkboard that you can dive into here. Epic's tease fits his theory that winter is coming to Fortnite: There's an iceberg enveloped in a blizzard that's headed toward the island, players can see their breath when they're close to the storm, and there's a lot of recently-added "snow stuff" in the game too.
Plus, for those of us who live in the northerly part of the world, winter is here in real life, too, so the timing is certainly appropriate.
The Game Awards gets underway at 5:30 pm PT/8:30 pm ET on December 6. Here's all you need to know about how, and why, to watch.
