Cyber Monday PC motherboard deals

Cyber Monday is the perfect time to snap up a mobo and get started, especially since there's an ocean of them out there. We picked out all the best for you.

Little builds that offer big performance are in. If that's your goal, the ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac is a stellar option in the mini-ITX category. It's packed with features, including onboard Wi-Fi connectivity, is fit for overclocking, and looks rad to boot. You can grab this motherboard for $125 (after $20 MIR) from Newegg, a sweet $60 savings from its MSRP.

On the other end of the spectrum where chants of "go big or go home" can be heard is the Asus ROG Maximus VIII Extreme/Assembly. This rock star collection of hardware and features is for die hard overclockers and enthusiasts who want the best without compromise. It normally retails for a wallet busting $550-$600, but is available now for a wallet busting $400 (after $100 MIR) from Amazon and Newegg. That's still not cheap, but probably as low as you're likely to see it while still a relevant piece of hardware.

Lest anyone accuse us of being biased, we haven't forgotten about AMD. Our pick for the best AM3+ motherboard, the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P, is available at Newegg for $85. That's a tidy savings of $25 that makes an already inexpensive board even more affordable. The BIOS is a bit antiquated on this thing, but it otherwise boasts a solid construction and good overclocking performance.
