If you're here hankering for more cadaver-based shenanigans—and hey, who isn't?—then Undeads Games is about to hit us with Undeads, a survival MMO that puts you in the midst of a raging zombie apocalypse. You'll need to be a savvy tactician and a skilled combatant. You'll also need to learn to wield a shovel like your life depends on it—because it kind of does.

This post-apocalyptic game offers a fresh, fun twist on the battle-royale experience built with an incredible community behind it. In Undeads, you can upgrade your avatar however you see fit, and you also get to pick your level of deadness, meaning you can actually play as a zombie. And we're not talking about shambling, headshot-sensitive sad sacks, either. Zunks, Syber Zunks, and Fallen all feature unique special abilities for you to master, not to mention rad, punky hairstyles they've somehow managed to sculpt from what follicles they have left.
The human avatars are just as customizable and come with expansive skill trees, so you have full control over your playstyle as you train alongside your attack pet.
While the story campaign and base-building mechanics will be coming post-launch, players will soon be free to build their own hub from the ground up, farm animals included, and expand to your heart's content as you defend your home from the relentless zombie hordes. Whether you and your pals feel like playing in Tower Defense mode or Endless Roguelike mode, there's an approach for every kind of player.
As for the kind of enemies you'll be facing, there are more than just your average brainless shamblers to take down. You'll come face-to-face with rare, intelligent, evolved zombies that make the standard infected look like puppy dogs. Pack hunting, deception, and other advanced tactics set these apart from their unthinking counterparts, while body-horror-fuelled mutants, human enemies will pile on the panic as you blast your way to a safer post-apocalypse.
The game is free to play right now but will expand to include work on a battle pass–style subscription model, early next year. Premium-tier season pass holders will get access to new content, mechanics and gear before other players. You'll also get a chance to shape game with your feedback, along with access to unique survivor avatars, rare outfits (to stand out or blend in), exclusive gear, and sub-only events such as game tournaments and prestigious community events.
