Fortnite's Season 8 battle pass will be free

Fortnite is giving away the Season 8 battle pass free, providing you can complete 13 challenges before the end of the Share the Love event.

Epic dropped the announcement in today's patch notes which detail the requirements for the surprise Valentine's day gift. Everyone that manages to complete 13 Overtime challenges before February 27 will receive a Season 8 battle pass completely free, earning two Season 8 outfits immediately, as well as the chance to earn up to five more.

Gifting has also returned until February 22 (it's free until tomorrow), a new infantry rifle has been added, and various bug fixes and tweaks have been implemented. Limited Time Modes will be rotated at 'a fast pace' throughout the week and the Epic advise checking the in-game client on Thursdays and Saturdays to see what's available.

Additionally, Pop-Up Cup settings have been added to default playlists including a harvest rate increase of 40 percent and 50 health (or shield) when eliminating an enemy. You can check out the full patch notes here.

The Share the Love event is well underway, with the first double XP weekend landing tomorrow as well as a number of reward incentives, including a free Cuddle Team Leader wrap and some unlockable skin styles for Trog, Powder, and Onesie.

The event runs until February 27, right before the arrival of Season 8 and you have until then to nab the free battle pass. If you're not sure what that entails, you can find out everything we know about Fortnite's Season 8 right here.
