Amazon is selling the HyperX Cloud II, the follow-up version to our favorite headset, for $70 today. That's down from its $120 MSRP, and still a good chunk lower than its usual $100 selling price.
With it being on sale for $70, the Hyper Cloud II is $10 cheaper than the HyperX Cloud Revolver, which we like a lot. We've also tested the HyperX Cloud II and found it to be a worthy headset for gaming, just not necessarily worth the pricing premium over its predecessor. On sale though, it's a very compelling buy.
The HyperX Cloud II is a 7.1 virtual surround sound headset. It uses 53mm neodynium magnet drivers and offers seven algorithm-driven sound sources. In our testing, we found it has fantastic bass response. Overall, the headset doesn't quite stack up against Creative and Turtle Beach's high-end 7.1 offerings, such as the Tactic 3D Omega and Z300. But for the price, it's a good option, and one that sidesteps the need for a discrete soundcard—plug it into a USB port and you'll be off and running.
