James is stuck in an endless loop, playing the Dark Souls games on repeat until Elden Ring and Silksong set him free. He's a truffle pig for indie horror and weird FPS games too, seeking out games that actively hurt to play. Otherwise he's wandering Austin, identifying mushrooms and doodling grackles.

I hesitate to call this case mod wall-mounted because, well, it is a wall. KAM is the product of Marin Filipcic from Croatia, and it’s one of the more thematically ambitious projects I’ve ever seen. He set out to make a scratch mod that didn’t just transform a PC into a fictional ancient sci-fi artifact, but one that changed an entire room.

To do so, he used pile of two-by-fours and styrofoam to create the frame, and then tore it all up to give the wall and window an aged look. With plenty of layered paint detail, KAM came out looking legit, like a reclaimed set piece from Legends of the HIdden Temple. I’d love to hunker down and play an atmospheric game in the KAM room—the way LEDs light up the PC components gives off the impression that it’s a window looking out into an underwater city. Put on some Bioshock, burn some earthy incense and never leave.

Filipcic paid for and built the entire piece out of pocket, so be sure to check out his official build log or hop onto his Facebook page to show some support.
